Russian army attacks energy facility in Ukraine's Sumy region: Over 20,000 people left without power

On Monday, June 9, Russian forces attacked energy infrastructure in the Sumy region using an FPV drone. As a result, more than 20,000 consumers were left without electricity, according to the Telegram channel of Sumy Regional Military Administration head Oleh Hryhorov.
"The enemy attacked energy infrastructure in the Hlukhiv community with an FPV drone. As a result of the strike, more than 20,000 consumers in four communities of the Shostka district were left without power," Hryhorov reported.
According to him, critical infrastructure facilities have switched to alternative power sources. Restoration work is ongoing.
Attacks on the Sumy region
According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Russian forces intensified their attacks on the Sumy region over the past day, June 8. Russia carried out nearly 90 strikes, resulting in casualties.
On that day, Russian troops struck the region using a loitering munition, likely a Lancet drone, which hit the territory of the Nedryhailiv community in the Romny district.
Two women, aged 43 and 28, were injured in the attack. One of the victims is pregnant. Vehicles and shops were also damaged. All relevant services are working at the scene.
Earlier in the morning, the enemy also struck the Esman community, using multiple launch rocket systems and FPV drones. One person was injured, and residential buildings caught fire as a result of the attack.
