An explosion was reported in Kharkiv this evening, February 5, amid an enemy airstrike involving attack drones. One of the city’s districts was hit, causing a fire at a local market, states Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that the strike targeted the city's Kyivskyi district.

"Preliminary reports indicate an enemy drone strike on the Kyivskyi district," he wrote on Telegram.

The mayor added that details about the attack's aftermath are still being clarified.

Later, Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, stated that initial information suggests there were no casualties as a result of the Russian drone attack.

"According to preliminary information, the Russian army struck the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv with a drone. At this moment, no casualties have been reported," the head of the Regional Military Administration wrote on Telegram.

Later, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov clarified that the drone strike targeted one of the city’s largest markets in the Kyivskyi district, near transport infrastructure.

"There is a fire in the market's trading pavilions. So far, no reports of casualties have been received," he stated.

Meanwhile, the head of the Regional Military Administration added that the trading pavilions were damaged as a result of debris from a Geran drone falling on the market.

Before reports of the explosion in Kharkiv, Ukraine's Air Force announced at 11:04 p.m. that an enemy attack drone was moving toward the city from the north.

Later, military officials reported detecting a high-speed aerial target in the Kharkiv region heading southwest. At 11:23 p.m., the Air Force reported another enemy drone approaching Kharkiv from the northwest.

Earlier in the evening of February 5, Russian forces launched several groups of attack drones toward Ukraine. Air raid alerts were declared in multiple regions due to the threat posed by Shahed drones.

Local authorities confirmed that fires broke out at the sites of the drone impacts in the Saltivskyi and Osnovianskyi districts of Kharkiv, and administrative buildings were damaged.
