The Russian army is amassing forces to carry out assault operations in the area of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region, states the spokesperson for the Luhansk Operational and Tactical Grouping, Dmytro Zaporozhets, during a national telethon live broadcast.
According to him, the enemy is focusing its main efforts on amassing personnel in different parts of the city to continue active assault operations.
"Right now, there is a period of accumulation and concentration at the approaches to Chasiv Yar, as well as regrouping within the city itself to carry out future assault actions," Zaporozhets said.
At the same time, he noted that the enemy did not use armored vehicles last week.
"They mainly used motor vehicles for logistical purposes, specifically ATVs and buggies... They are actively using and stockpiling smoke, which indicates that the enemy is interested in continuing offensive actions specifically in the city of Chasiv Yar," the spokesperson added.
Situation in Chasiv Yar
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian army is amassing forces in the northern part of Chasiv Yar and attempting to assault the southern part.
Fierce battles are ongoing in the city. The Russian forces are using artillery and aviation, trying to break through the defenses of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
Recently, the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group of Troops reported that the Russian army has intensified its offensive in the Kramatorsk and Toretsk directions. In particular, the enemy attempted to storm Chasiv Yar. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled the enemy’s advance in the southern part of this settlement.
