Russia will continue war? Shoigu tells Chinese FM about plans to 'achieve goals' in Ukraine

Russia intends to "achieve its strategic goals" in the course of its war against Ukraine, states Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, according to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the talks, Shoigu and Wang Yi "exchanged views in detail" regarding Russia's war against Ukraine.
"Shoigu presented the reasoning of the Russian side, expressed gratitude for China's efforts in supporting peace, and stated that Russia has sufficient capabilities and firm determination to achieve its strategic goals and address the root causes of the crisis," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement said.
For his part, Wang Yi said that China "supports all efforts" aimed at achieving peace. According to him, Beijing backs a comprehensive and sustainable peace agreement and will continue to "maintain strategic contacts with Russia" on this issue.
Visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister to Moscow
Today, December 2, it was reported that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Moscow. His visit is part of the 20th round of Russian-Chinese consultations on strategic security.
He has already met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Notably, Wang Yi visited Moscow on the same day that Russian President Vladimir Putin met with US President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and the American leader’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia intends to use peace talks to achieve its goals regarding the occupation of Ukrainian territories.
