Russia uses war in Gaza to divert attention from Ukraine - Israel
Russia is using the Hamas attack on Israel "in a twisted way" to divert attention from the war it is waging against Ukraine, stated Israel's Permanent Representative to the UN Gilad Erdan in the Security Council.
Russia's representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, accused Israel of being an "occupying power" and claimed that it had no right to self-defense.
"It is ridiculous to hear precisely from the Russian representative preaching morality towards Israel on the subject of human rights and international law. As someone who was expelled by the UN countries even from membership in the Human Rights Council, Russia is the last one who can preach to us."
In his opinion, everyone understands what Russia's reaction would be "if thousands of its citizens were massacred and kidnapped by a terrorist organization". Erdan also mentioned that the main goal of such statements by the Russian diplomat was "to divert the world's attention from its invasion of Ukraine."
At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, believes that the war in the Middle East did not in any way harm the support for Ukraine from international partners.
War in Israel
On October 7, Hamas attacked Israel killing and kidnapping both military and civilians. In particular, Israel was regularly shelled from the Gaza Strip. In response, Tel Aviv initiated an operation against the terrorists.
Yesterday, on October 27, IDF representative Daniel Hagari announced the beginning of offensive activities in the Gaza Strip. Afterwards, the Israel Defense Forces began striking the territory.
