Ukraine's Defense Forces ensured a ceasefire in the Kherson region for a humanitarian mission in Oleshky. The Russian army used this period to fortify its positions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"As part of the ceasefire established for the humanitarian operation in Oleshky, units of Ukraine's Defense Forces ensured compliance with the ceasefire and acted strictly within the terms of the agreements reached," the statement said.

As a result, the truce made it possible to deliver humanitarian aid, while Ukrainian men and women who wanted to leave Oleshky were able to return to territory controlled by Ukraine.

The General Staff noted that the enemy had used this humanitarian pause to fortify its positions.

"During the ceasefire, we recorded the rotation of Russian units, the strengthening of positions, the expansion of anti-drone defenses along roads, and an increase in logistics, including the delivery of ammunition," the military said.

Ceasefire in Oleshky

Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reported late yesterday evening that the ceasefire in the Oleshky area, which had been in effect from October 27 through November 1, had officially ended.

He announced that the Ukrainian side was working with Russia to explore the possibility of extending similar humanitarian measures. Lubinets stressed the importance of preserving this mechanism of cooperation.

Following the humanitarian mission, US First Lady Melania Trump said that the move offers hope for establishing lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia.

She expressed hope that the mission in Oleshky would become a starting point on the path to peace between Ukraine and Russia.
