Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of March 5

Ukrainian soldiers hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River, repelling Russian attacks near Pervomaiske (Donetsk region) and damaging an enemy Buk-M1 missile system, according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the day, there were 76 clashes. Overall, the enemy delivered 2 missile strikes and 67 air strikes, conducted 95 artillery barrages on the positions of our troops and populated areas using reactive volley fire systems.
As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population. Multistory and private houses, as well as other infrastructure objects, suffered destruction and damage.
Situation on the fronts
On the Volyn and Polissia front, the operational situation remains unchanged. There are no signs of the enemy forming offensive groupings.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske front, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shell populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine.
The enemy shelled the settlements of Seredyna-Buda, Druzhba, and Osoivka of the Sumy region with reactive volley fire systems. More than 30 settlements, including Klyusy, Bleshnia, and Hremiach of the Chernihiv region; Bachivsk, Pokrovka, and Basivka of the Sumy region; Udy, Kozacha Lopan, and Ambarne of the Kharkiv region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Kupiansk front, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. They delivered airstrikes in the areas of Kislivka of the Kharkiv region and Novoiehorivka of the Luhansk region.
More than 20 settlements, including Zapadne, Stepova Novoselivka, and Kotliarivka of the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
On the Lyman front, our troops repelled 5 enemy attacks in the area of Terny settlement of the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with air support, tried to break through the defense of our troops.
About 15 settlements, including Bilohorivka of the Luhansk region and Torske, Serebrianka of the Donetsk region, suffered from enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Bakhmut front, the defense forces repelled 1 enemy attack in the area of Bila Hora settlement of the Donetsk region, where the enemy attempted to improve its tactical position. The enemy delivered airstrikes in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Bohdanivka, Kurdiumivka, and Druzhba of the Donetsk region.
More than 10 settlements, including Hryhorivka, New York, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka of the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
On the Avdiivka front, our defenders repelled 22 enemy attacks in the areas of Berdychiv, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Semenivka, and Orlivka. The enemy delivered an airstrike in the area of Semenivka settlement.
About 15 settlements, including Berdychiv, Pervomaiske, and Orlivka of the Donetsk region, suffered from enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Novopavlivka front, the defense forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Prechystivka, and Krasnohorivka of the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with air support, attempted to break through the defense of our troops 34 times. The enemy also delivered an airstrike in the area of the Vuhledar settlement.
More than 20 settlements, including Huliaipole, Malynivka, and Robotyne, suffered from enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Orikhiv front, the enemy launched 5 unsuccessful attacks in the areas of the settlements of Hulyaipole, Malynivka, and Robotyne. They also carried out aerial strikes in the vicinity of Malynivka and Mala Tokmachka.
Additionally, over 15 populated areas, including Hulyaipilsk, Novodarivka, and Rivnopil in the Zaporizhzhia region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the zone of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group on the Prydniprovske, (Kherson) front, more than 30 settlements, including Antonivka, Veletenske, Tiahynka, Ivanivka, and Zmiivka of the Kherson region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
Advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The enemy remains determined to dislodge our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro.
Despite significant losses, they persist in attempting to dislodge our units from their positions. During the day, the enemy launched 2 unsuccessful assaults.
Enemy losses
Tonight, as a result of an operation by the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Russian Sergey Kotov ship of Project 22160 with a crew on board was struck. Information about the presence of a shipborne combat transport helicopter Ka-29 on board is being verified.
During the day, the defense aviation conducted strikes on 11 areas of enemy personnel concentration.
Units of the missile forces inflicted strikes on 1 area of enemy personnel concentration, armaments, and military equipment, 1 ammunition depot, 1 Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system, and 1 reconnaissance and fire control radar complex Zoopark-1.
The total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 419,020 military personnel.
