Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of October 31

Ukrainian Forces continue to engage in defensive operations in the east and south and offensive operations in the Melitopol and Bakhmut directions. In the past 24 hours, there have been 36 reported combat clashes, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
Overall, during the past 24 hours, the enemy launched 7 missile and 90 aerial strikes, conducted 82 shelling attacks from multiple launch rocket systems on our troops' positions and populated areas.
As a result of the Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential homes and other civilian infrastructure have also suffered destruction and damage.
In addition, during the night, Russian occupiers launched another strike on Ukraine, using 2 combat UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type and 1 guided aviation missile Kh-59. All enemy UAVs were successfully destroyed by air defense forces and means.
Aerial strikes targeted the following areas: Stohne, Petropavlivka, Senkove, Pershotravneve in the Kharkiv region; Serebryanske Forestry, Spirne, Viyimka, Andriyivka, Kurdiumivka, Arkhangelske, Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Semenivka, Stepove, Berdychiv, Avdiivka, Severne, Orlivka, Maryinka, Oleksandrivka, Katerynivka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar in the Donetsk region; Novodarivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region; Novoberyslav, Zmiyivka, Kozatske, Ivanivka, Berislav, Mykolaivka, Antonivka, Tyahinka in the Kherson region.
Over 110 populated areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.
The frontline situation
In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic group "North" in the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains largely unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active subversive activities to prevent the movement of our forces to critical directions, and increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic group "Khortytsia" in the Kupyansk direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful assault actions in the area of the settlement Synkivka in the Kharkiv region, where our defenders repelled 2 enemy attacks.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions.
In the Bakhmut direction, the adversary unsuccessfully attempted to regain the lost position in the area of Klishchiivka, where our defenders repelled 3 attacks. Ukrainian Defense Forces continue assault actions south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, inflicting casualties on the enemy in personnel and equipment, and consolidating their positions on the achieved lines.
In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic group "Tavriya" in the Avdiivka direction, the occupiers continue their attempts to encircle Avdiivka, but our soldiers steadfastly hold the defense, inflicting significant losses on the enemy. The adversary's offensive actions in the areas of Avdiivka, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region were unsuccessful, where the defense forces repelled over 5 enemy attacks.
In the Maryinka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault actions in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian troops repelled over 15 attacks by the invaders in this area.
In the Shakhtarsk and Zaporizhzhia directions, our defenders repelled an enemy attack in the area of Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region.
At the same time, Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, inflicting losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, and wearing down the enemy along the entire front line.
In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic group "Odesa" in the Kherson direction, Ukrainian soldiers are engaged in counter-battery warfare, delivering fire strikes on the enemy's rear areas.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out 19 strikes on areas with personnel, equipment, and military vehicles, and 1 strike on an enemy air defense system. Additionally, Ukraine's air defense systems destroyed 12 combat drones, 2 guided aviation missiles, and 6 reconnaissance drones.
The units of the missile troops targeted an air defense system, 5 areas with personnel, equipment, and military vehicles, 9 artillery systems, and another 6 important enemy targets.
