Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of October 22

On the front lines, during October 22, there were 82 combat clashes. In some directions, the Russians conducted unsuccessful offensives, according to the Ukrainian General Staff's data.
Russia's attacks
During the day, there were 82 combat engagements. In total, the enemy launched 10 missile and 36 aerial strikes, conducted 35 shelling attacks with multiple rocket launchers on our troops' positions and residential areas.
As a result of the Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.
The frontline situation
The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains complex.
In the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains largely unchanged. There are no significant signs of the formation of offensive groups. Identified units of the armed forces of Belarus are fulfilling their tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains a military presence in border areas, continues to shell residential areas from Russian territory, and increases the density of mine and explosive obstacles along the state border of Ukraine.
Approximately 10 populated areas, including Bleshnia, Yanzhulivka in the Chernihiv region, Stara Huta, Demyanivka, Kruzhok, Myropilske in the Sumy region, and Pletenivka, Zybine in the Kharkiv region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 15 attacks by the occupiers in the areas of Synkivka and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region. The enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of the populated areas Ivanivka and Kurylivka in the Kharkiv region. Around 10 populated areas, including Dvorichna, Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region, were targeted with artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled three enemy attacks in the vicinity of Nadiya in the Luhansk region. The enemy carried out aerial strikes near Nadiya, Nevske in the Luhansk region, and Spirne, Vyimka in the Donetsk region. Approximately 15 populated areas, including Nevske, Kreminna, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Novosadove, Torske, Spirne in the Donetsk region, were affected by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian soldiers successfully repelled all enemy attacks in the areas of populated places such as Bohdanivka, Khromove, Andriivka, and Druzhba in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted aerial strikes near Klishchiivka and New York in the Donetsk region.
Around 20 populated areas, including Kalynivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Odradivka, and Kurdiumivka in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy launched unsuccessful assault operations with aviation support in the areas of populated places Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Opytne, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled about 20 enemy attacks in this area. Additionally, the enemy conducted an aerial strike near Novokalynove and Orlivka in the Donetsk region.
More than 10 populated areas, including Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka, Opytne, Severne, and Tonenke in the Donetsk region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Maryinka direction, the invaders conducted unsuccessful assault actions with aviation support in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled more than 20 enemy attacks in this region. Approximately 10 populated areas, including Krasnohorivka, Oleksandrivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, and Katerynivka in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire from the occupiers.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled all enemy attacks in the areas of Prechystivka and Zolota Niva in the Donetsk region. About 20 populated areas, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Niva, Blahodatne, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, were targeted with artillery and mortar fire.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian forces repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Verbove and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. The enemy conducted an aerial strike near Mala Tokmachka. Over 15 populated areas, including Bilohirya, Orikhiv, Novodanylivka, Novoandriyivka, Mali Shcherbaky, and Pyatyhatky in the Zaporizhzhia region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kherson direction, the occupiers carried out aerial strikes in the areas of populated places Olhivka, Lvove, Tyahynka, Tokarivka, Ponyativka, and Barvinok in the Kherson region. The enemy's artillery and mortar fire affected Ivanivka, Stanislav in the Kherson region, and the city of Kherson.
Offensive by Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Defense Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, conduct assault operations in the Bakhmut direction, inflict losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, and wear down the enemy along the entire front line.
Russia's losses
Over the course of the day, the defense forces' aviation conducted seven strikes on the areas where the enemy's personnel, weaponry, and military equipment were concentrated.
The missile troops' units destroyed four enemy artillery systems.
