Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of September 22
Ukrainian forces continue to advance on two fronts. Additionally, the Defense Forces have repelled Russian attacks in the Bakhmut, Maryinka, Zaporizhzhia, and Shakhtarsk directions. There have been 26 clashes in the past day, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
Over the past day, the Russian Federation launched another massive missile strike on Ukraine's energy, industrial, and other civilian infrastructure, using 44 air-launched cruise missiles, including the Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55, and 6 guided anti-aircraft missiles S-300. 38 cruise missiles were destroyed by air defense.
Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings, educational and medical institutions, dormitories, and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed.
During the past day, the enemy conducted 59 missile strikes and 62 aviation attacks, as well as 55 artillery strikes from multiple rocket launchers, targeting both our military positions and civilian objects.
Aviation strikes hit Hremyach, Chernihiv region; Dihtyarne, Sumy region; Ohirtseve, Berestove, Kopanky, Shyikivka, Kharkiv region; Nevske, Luhansk region; Dibrova, Andriivka, Minkivka, Klishchiivka, Pivnichne, Arkhanhelske, Yelyzavetivka, Vuhledar, Zolota Nyva, Urozhaine, Staramaiorske, Donetsk region; Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region; Lvove Olhivka, Tyahynka, Kherson region.
More than 120 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions have come under artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the area of responsibility of the North operational-strategic group in the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas, conducts active subversive activities to prevent the transfer of our troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group in the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled enemy attacks in the area northeast of Hryhorivka, Donetsk region. The enemy attempted to regain lost positions in the area of Andriivka, Donetsk region, but without success.
The Defense Forces continue offensive operations south of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, inflicting losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment, and consolidating their achieved positions.
In the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group in the Maryinka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the Maryinka and Krasnohorivka areas, Donetsk region. In the past day, occupiers made 12 unsuccessful attempts to displace our units from occupied positions. In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled an enemy attack in the area of Mykilske, Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, enemy attacks in the areas of Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region, ended with significant losses for the invaders, both in personnel and equipment.
Meanwhile, in the Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk directions, the Defense Forces continue to hold the defense in occupied positions, inflicting losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment.
In the Melitopol direction, the Defense Forces continue their offensive operation, causing significant losses in personnel and equipment to the occupying forces, wearing down the enemy and forcing them to retreat from occupied positions.
In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, the Defense Forces continue counter-battery combat, destroying supply depots and successfully striking the enemy's rear.
Advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to defend the east and south of Ukraine, conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, and advance step by step, liberating temporarily occupied territories and consolidating their positions.
Occupiers continue recruiting prisoners
Due to catastrophic losses among the occupiers and in order to recruit personnel for the Russian airborne troops, agitation events are being conducted in places of detention on the territory of the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation. Prisoners are promised early release from detention in exchange for a contract with the Russian armed forces, the term of which lasts until the end of the war.
