Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of September 8

The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains complex; however, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, destroying the enemy and gradually liberating the occupied territories. They have achieved success south of Robotyne and have consolidated their positions along the attained frontlines, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
Last night, the Russian Federation launched another missile and aviation strike on Ukraine. Information regarding the consequences of this terrorist attack is currently being clarified.
Over the past day, there have been 39 combat clashes. The enemy delivered 7 missile strikes, and 74 aviation strikes, and carried out 46 shelling attacks with multiple rocket launch systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Popivka, Salne of the Chernihiv region, Sumy, Hrabovske, Starykove of the Sumy region, and Hranove of the Kharkiv region. More than 25 populated areas, including Turya and Bleshnia of the Chernihiv region, Kozache, Uhroidy, and Hrabovske of the Sumy region, and Udy, Veterynarne, Vovchanske, Budarky, Hatyshe, and Ohirtseve of the Kharkiv region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kupiansk direction, the defense forces repelled enemy attacks in the area of Synkivka. More than 15 populated areas, including Krasne Pershe, Kamianka, Fyholivka, Dvorichna, Kucherivka, and Tabaivka of the Kharkiv region, experienced artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Lyman direction, our defenders repelled enemy attacks in the area of Novoiehorivka in the Luhansk region. The enemy conducted aviation strikes near Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and west of Dibrova in the Donetsk region. Over 15 populated areas, including Nevske and Bilohorivka of the Luhansk region, and Verkhniokamianske, Vesele, Spirne, Rozdolivka, and Yampolivka of the Donetsk region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian forces repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted aviation strikes near Maiorsk in the Donetsk region. Over 15 populated areas, including Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, New York, and Pivnichne in the Donetsk region, experienced artillery and mortar shelling. In turn, as a result of offensive actions, the Defense Forces have achieved partial success south of Bakhmut, displacing the enemy from their positions and consolidating on the attained frontlines.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attacked the areas of Keramika and Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. They conducted aviation strikes near Avdiivka. Over 10 populated areas, including Novokalynove, Keramika, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sieverne, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to contain the advance of Russian troops in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. During the past day, our soldiers repelled over 10 enemy attacks in this area. The enemy conducted aviation strikes in the vicinity of Krasnohorivka. Around 15 populated areas, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobyeda, Novomykhailivka, and Antonivka in the Donetsk region, experienced artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Defense Forces repelled enemy attacks south of Prechystivka. The enemy conducted aviation strikes near Urozhaine. Over 10 populated areas, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Zolota Nyva, Robotyne, Novodanylivka, and Omelnyk in the Zaporizhia region. Over 20 populated areas, including Olhivske, Huliaypole, Levadne, Mala Tokmachka, Piatyhatky, Robotyne, and Kamianske in the Zaporizhia region, experienced artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes near Kozatske. Antonivka, Kherson, Veletenske, and Tomyna Balka in Kherson region were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces conducted 10 strikes on areas of enemy personnel, weaponry, military equipment, and positions of enemy air defense missile complexes.
Rocket and artillery units struck 1 ammunition depot, 6 artillery systems, 2 command points, and 2 enemy air defense missile complexes.
