Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of September 2

Ukrainian Forces are conducting an offensive operation in the Melitopol direction and are consolidating their positions. There have been 45 combat clashes in the past 24 hours, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook page.
Enemy attacks
Over the past day, the enemy launched 4 rockets and 39 aviation strikes, as well as carried out 42 shelling attacks using multiple rocket launchers on the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population as a result of Russian terrorist attacks. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have also been damaged.
The likelihood of missile and aviation strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.
The frontline situation
The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions remains relatively unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy conducted artillery and mortar shelling of over 30 populated areas, including Huta-Studenetska, Karpovychi in Chernihiv region, Chernatske, Sosnivka, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Kyndrativka, Turia, Popivka in Sumy region, and Veterynarne, Pylna, Vovchansk, Okhrimivka, Mala Vovcha, Varvarivka in Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy's unsuccessful offensive actions were observed in the area of Novoselivka in the Luhansk region. The enemy carried out an aviation strike in the vicinity of Krokhmalyne in the Kharkiv region. Over 15 populated areas, including Kamyanka, Krasne Pershe, Dvorichna, Kupiansk, Kotliarivka, and Novoserhiivka in the Kharkiv region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Novoehorivka and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region. Over 15 populated areas, including Makiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Yampolivka, Siversk, Spirne, Vyimka, Fedorivka, and Vesele in the Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy's unsuccessful offensive actions were observed in the area of Kurdiumivka in the Donetsk region. Aviation strikes were conducted in the areas of Stupochky, Bilohora, and New York in the Donetsk region. Over 20 populated areas, including Minkivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Dyliivka, Druzhba, and New York in the Donetsk region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy's unsuccessful offensive actions were observed in the area of Siverne in the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out artillery and mortar shelling of populated areas, including Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Halytsynivka, and Memryk in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Krasnohorivka, Kurakhove, Pobieda, Kostiantynivka, and Yelyzavetivka in the Donetsk region, were subjected to enemy artillery shelling.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy carried out an aviation strike in the area of Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Over 15 populated areas, including Vuhledar, Zolota Niva, Blahodatne, Rivnopil, Novosilka, and Zelene Pole in the Donetsk region, suffered from enemy artillery shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy conducted an aviation strike in the area of Malynivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 populated areas, including Olhivske, Huliaypilske, Chervona Krynytsia, Robotyne, Shcherbaky, Stepove in the Zaporizhzhia region, and Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region, were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
In the Kherson direction, over 10 populated areas, including Dudchany, Berislav, Tiaghinka, Kherson, Veletenske, and Olhivka in the Kherson region, suffered from enemy shelling.
Offensive by Ukrainian Armed Forces
At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation on the Melitopol front, consolidate their positions on achieved lines, and conduct counter-battery measures.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the aviation of the defense forces carried out 6 strikes on the areas where enemy personnel, equipment, and military vehicles were concentrated, and 5 strikes on enemy air defense missile systems.
Units of the missile forces and artillery struck 4 areas with enemy personnel, equipment, and military vehicles, 10 artillery pieces in firing positions, 2 command posts, 3 ammunition depots, and 1 enemy radar station during the past day.
