Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of August 27

The Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operation in the direction of Melitopol, solidify their achieved positions, and carry out counter-battery measures. Over the past day, more than 40 combat clashes have occurred, informs the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
Last night, the Russian Federation launched another missile strike on Ukraine. Information about the consequences of this terrorist attack is currently being clarified.
Over the past day, the enemy conducted 5 missile and 45 aviation strikes, as well as 67 artillery shelling attacks from multiple launch rocket systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, there have been casualties among the civilian population as a result of Russian terrorist attacks. Residential buildings, schools, and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged.
The possibility of missile and aviation strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively stable with no significant changes.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy conducted mortar and artillery shelling of over 25 settlements, including Khrinivka and Klyusy in the Chernihiv region; Kruzhok, Volfyne, Basivka, Turya, Hrabovske, Ryasne in the Sumy region; and Rublene, Ambarne, Bolohivka in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, settlements Dvorichna, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, and Topoli in the Kharkiv region experienced artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched unsuccessful offensive actions near Novoehorivka in the Luhansk region. They also conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Novoehorivka, Tverdokhlibove, and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, as well as Spirne in the Donetsk region. Over 15 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery shelling, including Kreminna, Kuzmine, and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Torske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region. They also carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Klishchiivka, Bilf Hora, and New York in the Donetsk region. More than 20 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Stupochky, Andriivka, and Kurdiumivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Stepove in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery shelling, including Keramik, Novobakhmutivka, Orlivka, Tonenke, and Netaylove in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, the defense forces continued to contain the Russian forces' advance in the area of Maryinka in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted aviation strikes in the area of Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling, including Kurakhivka, Oleksandrivka, Hostre, Maryinka, Pobyeda, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Vuhledar and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. More than 15 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling, including Vuhledar, Vodyane, Shakhtarske, Blahodatne, Urozhayne, and Rivnopil in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Orikhove, and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling, including Staroukrainka, Huliaypilske, Orikhiv, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, populated areas Olhivka, Odradokamianka, Mykolaivka, Kherson, Yantarne, and Dniprovske in the Kherson region were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the defense forces' aviation conducted 2 strikes on command posts, 10 strikes on personnel concentration areas, and 2 strikes on enemy air defense systems.
The missile and artillery units hit 2 enemy air defense systems, 1 personnel concentration area, and 4 artillery units on enemy firing positions during the past day.
