Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of August 26

Russian attacks

During the day, the enemy conducted three missile strikes and 34 airstrikes, launching 34 barrages of rocket artillery at the positions of our troops and populated areas.

Unfortunately, there have been casualties among the civilian population due to the Russian terrorist attacks. Residential buildings, schools, and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged.

The likelihood of missiles and airstrikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

The frontline situation

During the day, there were 38 clashes.

The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions remains largely unchanged.

In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy conducted artillery and mortar shelling of more than 25 populated areas, including Hrinivka and Klyusy in Chernihiv region, Vilna Sloboda, Khodyne, Simeykyne, and Hirky in Sumy region, as well as Pletenivka, Kruhle, and Budarky in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk direction, populated areas such as Dvorichna, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Novoehorivka in the Luhansk region. They also carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Novoehorivka, Tverdokhlibove, and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, as well as in Spirne in the Donetsk region.

More than 15 populated areas, including Karmazynivka, Nevske, Chervonopopivka, Kreminna, Kuzmine, and Dibrova in the Luhansk region, were subjected to enemy artillery shelling.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Klischiivka in the Donetsk region. They also carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Klischiivka, Bila Hora, and New York in the Donetsk region.

Over 20 populated areas, including Vasyukivka, Zaliznyanske, Minkivka, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, and Klischiivka in the Donetsk region, suffered from enemy artillery shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Stepove in the Donetsk region. Populated areas Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Orlivka, Siverne, Pervomaiske, Nevelske in the Donetsk region were subjected to artillery shelling.

In the Maryinka direction, Ukrainian Forces continue to hold back the Russian troops' offensive in the area of Maryinka in the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out an aviation strike in the vicinity of Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region.

Populated areas Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Kostiantynivka, and Yelyzavetivka in the Donetsk region were affected by enemy artillery shelling.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Vuhledar and Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region.

Enemy artillery shelling affected more than 15 populated areas, including Bohoyavlenska, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Vremivka, Blahodatne, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Orihiv, and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 populated areas, including Yablukove, Charivne, Novoandriivka, Lobkove, Kamyanske, and Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhzhia region, were affected by enemy artillery shelling.

In the Kherson direction, populated areas Olhivka, Odadokamianka, Mykolaivka, Kherson, Yantarnoe, and Dniprovsky in the Kherson region were affected by enemy artillery shelling.

Offensive by Ukrainian Armed Forces

At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, consolidate their positions on the achieved front lines, and carry out counter-battery measures.

Russian losses

During the day, the aviation of the Armed Forces conducted two strikes on command posts, 10 strikes on personnel concentration areas, and two strikes on enemy anti-aircraft missile complexes.

Units of the missile troops and artillery inflicted damage on two anti-aircraft missile complexes, one personnel concentration area, and four artillery units in enemy firing positions during the day.
