The head of European Union diplomacy, Josep Borrell, has admitted that the outcome of Russia's war against Ukraine will be decided this year - in spring and summer, reports Sky News.

During his visit to Washington, the official called for ongoing assistance to Ukraine in its fight against Russian occupiers amid doubts about the resumption of American support.

Borrell also emphasized that Ukraine cannot wait for the results of the US presidential elections in November.

At the end of February, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the situation on the frontlines could worsen this year.

In particular, he said that the occupiers are preparing for a new offensive by the end of spring or the beginning of summer.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine would be ready for such a battle, and he believes that the turning point of 2024 will be the US elections.

A few days ago, the head of state also revealed that Ukrainian defenders managed to stop the Russian advance, and the situation on the frontlines has improved significantly compared to the last three months.

The last three months have been challenging for Ukraine, as the occupiers, notably, managed to seize control of Avdiivka and several other settlements near the city.
