Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 16

Over the past day, January 15, there were 180 combat clashes on the front line. Russian troops are actively storming in several directions, most notably in Pokrovsk and Huliaipole, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yesterday, Russia launched 2 missiles and 97 air strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, using three missiles and dropping 234 guided aerial bombs.
In addition, 6,968 kamikaze drones were used to attack, and 3,338 shellings of our troops' positions and populated areas were carried out, 57 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems.
Russia carried out air strikes, in particular on the areas of the settlements of Manukhivka, Bilopillia in the Sumy region; Havrylivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region; Rizdvianka, Verkhnia Tersa, Liubytske, Samiilivka, Vozdvyzhivka, Zaliznychne, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Tavriiske, and Preobrazhenka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The Air Force, missile forces, and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck seven areas where Russian personnel and equipment were concentrated, two drone control points, and another important facility.
Frontlines
In the North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, there was one combat engagement over the past day; Russians carried out one air strike, dropping two aerial bombs, and carried out 111 shellings, including three from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the South-Slobozhansky direction, Ukrainian troops stopped 11 Russian attacks in the areas of the settlements of Vovchansk, Prylipka, Tykhe, Starytsia, Vovchanski Khutory, and in the direction of the settlements of Izbytske, Kruhle, and Nesterne.
Yesterday, there were six Russian attacks in the Kupiansk direction. Ukrainian defenders repelled Russian assaults in the direction of Pishchane, Kurylivka, Petropavlivka, and Bohuslavka.
In the Lyman direction, Russia attacked 19 times, trying to break through Ukrainian defenses in the areas of the settlements of Zarichne, Novoselivka, Torske, and in the direction of the settlements of Lyman, Stavy, Druzheliubivka, Oleksandrivka, Dibrova, and Drobysheve.
In the Sloviansk direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 5 Russian attacks in the areas of Siversk, Platonivka, and towards Zakitne.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 4 attacks in the areas of Vasiukivka, Fedorivka, and towards Pryvillia and Minkivka.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russia carried out 21 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, and in the direction of Novopavlivka, Stepanivka, and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 46 Russian assaults in the areas of the settlements of Nykanorivka, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Molodetske, Filiia, and in the direction of Vilne, Rodynske, Nove Shakhove, and Sukhetske.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russia carried out 10 attacks yesterday, near Vyshneve and towards the settlements of Ivanivka, Oleksandrohrad, Yehorivka, Rybne, Zlahoda, Andriivka-Klevtsove, Nove Zaporizhzhia, and Sichneve.
In the Huliaipole direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 30 Russian attacks in the areas of Solodke, Huliaipole, and towards Dobropillia, Olenokostiantynivka, Zelene, and Varvarivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, there were five combat clashes in the areas of Prymorske, Stepnohirsk, Stepove, and Kamianske.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian troops conducted an attempt to advance in the area of the Antonivskyi Bridge.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups were detected.
Russia's losses in war against Ukraine
According to Ukraine's General Staff, Russia has lost approximately 1,224,460 military personnel since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In particular, the Russian losses amounted to 1,370 troops.
Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed 6 Russian tanks, 4 armored combat vehicles, 48 artillery systems, 3 multiple launch rocket systems, 527 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles, 180 vehicles, two pieces of special equipment, and one heavy flamethrower system.
