Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 12

As of 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time on Monday, January 12, 146 combat engagements had taken place along the front line. The Huliaipole direction was the hottest, with 33 battles recorded, according to a report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
Russian forces carried out 28 airstrikes, dropping 74 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russia launched attacks using 5,092 kamikaze drones and conducted 2,740 shelling attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders and populated areas.
Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out 84 shelling attacks, including six using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Russia carried out six assaults in the areas of the settlements of Kruhle, Ternova, Obukhivka, Dehtiarnе, and toward the settlements of Prylipka and Hrafske. One combat engagement is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces made four assault attempts toward Petropavlivka and Kurylivka. One engagement is still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 11 assaults in the areas of the settlements of Novoselivka, Ridkodub, Zarichne, Yampil, and toward the settlements of Lyman, Stavky, and Drobyshcheve. One combat engagement is still ongoing.
In the Sloviansk direction, Russia attacked six times in the areas of the settlements of Sviato-Pokrovske, Platonivka, Pazeno, and toward Zakitne and Riznykivka. Three engagements are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, no offensive actions by the enemy were recorded.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, 17 combat engagements took place near the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, and toward the settlements of Stepanivka and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy attacked 26 times in the areas of the settlements of Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Nykanorivka, Rodynske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Filiia, and toward the settlement of Kucheriv Yar.
Over the past day in this direction, 100 Russian personnel were neutralized, including 66 killed. In addition, 45 unmanned aerial vehicles, 12 vehicles, 10 units of special equipment, and four quad bikes were destroyed. One tank, three artillery systems, five vehicles, two units of special equipment, five UAV control points, and seven enemy personnel shelters were damaged.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, 12 enemy attacks were recorded in the areas of the settlements of Zlahoda and Verbove, and toward Novo Zaporizhzhia. One combat engagement is still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, 33 combat engagements took place in the areas of the settlement of Huliaipole and toward Olenokostiantynivka and Varvarivka. Fighting is still ongoing at two locations. The settlements of Verkhnia Tersa, Barvinivka, Liubytske, and Vozdvyzhivka were struck by guided aerial bombs.
In the Orikhiv direction, a combat engagement is currently ongoing in the area of Prymorske.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, no offensive actions by the enemy were recorded.
Russia’s losses in the war
The estimated losses of the enemy in manpower have reached approximately 1,220,000 personnel, with this figure increasing by another 1,060 servicemen over the past day alone.
