Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 12

In total, 219 combat clashes were recorded along the entire front line over the past day. Most of them took place in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yesterday, Russia carried out 53 air strikes and dropped 151 guided bombs. In addition, it carried out 2,941 attacks, including 111 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 5,273 kamikaze drones.
Air strikes were carried out, in particular, on the following populated areas:
- Havrylivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region;
- Mala Tokmachka, Vozdvyzhivka, Rizdvianka, Verkhnia Tersa, and Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Situation on the front lines
In the North-Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, Russia carried out 100 attacks over the past day, including five with multiple launch rocket systems.
In the South-Slobozhanskyi direction, Russia attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 16 times in the areas of the settlements of Prylipka, Dvorichanske, Dovhenke, Starytsia, Kruhle, Chuhunivka, Kutkivka, and in the direction of the settlements of Hrafske, Ternova, Lyman, and Kolodiazne.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russia conducted 9 attempts to advance towards Petropavlivka, Novoplatonivka, Kupiansk, and Bohuslavka.
In the Lyman direction, Russia attacked 16 times, trying to break through Ukrainian defenses in the areas of the settlements of Hrekivka, Karpivka, Shandryholove, Novoyehorivka, Zarichne, Yampil, and towards the settlements of Lyman, Stavy, and Drobysheve.
In the Sloviansk direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped 3 Russian offensive actions in the areas of Platonivka and Zakitne.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russian attack towards Stupochky was repelled yesterday.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russia carried out 17 attacks near the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, and in the direction of the settlements of Sofiivka and Berestok.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 46 Russian assaults in the areas of the settlements of Nykanorivka, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Sukhetske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Filiia, and in the direction of Ivanivka, Hryshyne, Toretsk, and Novopavlivka.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russia carried out 17 attacks yesterday in the areas of the settlements of Sichneve, Verbove, Rybne, Vyshneve, Zlahoda, Yehorivka, and in the direction of Ivanivka and Oleksiivka.
In the Huliaipole direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 44 Russian attempts to advance in the areas of the settlements of Huliaipole, Solodke, and towards Dobropillia, Zelene, Pryluky, and Varvarivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, Russia attempted 8 offensive actions in the areas of Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, and towards Lukianivske.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russians did not conduct any offensive actions.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there were no signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups.
Russian losses
Ukrainian soldiers are inflicting significant losses on the Russian forces in terms of manpower and equipment and are actively undermining Russia's offensive potential in the rear.
Over the past day, the aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck 7 areas where personnel, weapons, and military equipment were concentrated, as well as one Russian drone control point.
Russian losses over the past day amounted to 1,060 troops. Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed 7 armored combat vehicles, 21 artillery systems, one air defense system, 353 unmanned aerial vehicles, 98 vehicles, and 3 pieces of special equipment.
