Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 2

Over the past day, January 1, there were 98 combat clashes on the front line, which is less than in previous days. Russia attacked in several directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yesterday, Russia launched one missile and 51 air strikes, launching one missile, dropping 151 guided aerial bombs, carrying out 3,508 shellings, including 49 from multiple launch rocket systems, and using 6,237 kamikaze drones.
Russian air strikes were carried out on the settlements of Lisne in the Kharkiv region; Zaliznychne, Sviatopetrivka, Verkhnia Tersa, Huliaipole, Tsvitkove, Pryluky, and Varvarivka in the Zaporizhzhia region; and Prydniprovske in the Kherson region.
Over the past day, the aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck four Russian concentration areas and two command posts.
Frontline
On the North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Russia launched an air strike yesterday, dropping a guided aerial bomb and firing 77 times on populated areas and the positions of Ukrainian troops.
In the South-Slobozhansky direction, Russia attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders three times in the areas of the settlements of Vovchansk and Starytsia.
No Russian offensive actions were recorded in the Kupiansk direction.
In the Lyman direction, Russia attacked 15 times, trying to break through Ukrainian defenses in the areas of the settlements of Novovodiane, Myrne, Kolodiazi, Zarichne, Novoyehorivka, Novoselivka, and Yampil.
In the Sloviansk direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped 2 Russian offensive actions in the areas of the settlements of Siversk, Sakko i Vantsetti.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Russia has not conducted any offensive actions since the beginning of the day.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russia carried out 15 attacks in the areas of Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka, Shcherbynivka, and in the direction of the settlement of Torske.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 23 Russian assaults in the areas of the settlements of Nove Shakhove, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and in the direction of Novopavlivka.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russia carried out 12 attacks yesterday in the areas of the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Oleksandrohrad, Vorone, Verbove, Vyshneve, and Rybne.
In the Huliaipole direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 14 Russian attempts to advance in the areas of the settlements of Solodke, Huliaipole, and in the direction of Zelene.
In the Orikhiv direction, Russians attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders twice in the direction of Prymorske.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Ukrainian military repelled two Russian attacks in the direction of the Antonivskyi Bridge.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups were detected.
Russia's losses in war against Ukraine
According to the General Staff, Russia has lost approximately 1,209,880 military personnel since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In particular, Russian losses over the past day amounted to 910 troops.
Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed 6 Russian tanks, 2 armored combat vehicles, 42 artillery systems, two multiple launch rocket systems, an air defense system, 590 unmanned aerial vehicles, a cruise missile, and 169 vehicles.
