Russia's losses in Ukraine as of January 2: +910 troops and 590 drones

From January 1 to January 2, Russian forces lost an additional 910 soldiers on the front lines. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed 42 artillery systems, 169 vehicles, and 590 drones, reports the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to January 2, 2026, are estimated to be:

Frontlines updates and Russian losses
As of the evening of January 1, 97 combat engagements were recorded along the frontline over the course of the day. The highest number of clashes occurred on the Pokrovsk direction, where Russian forces attempted 23 attacks.
It was also reported that, according to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukrainian troops neutralized nearly 420,000 Russian invaders over the course of 2025.
