Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 26

As of 22:00 Kyiv time on Friday, December 26, 237 combat engagements had taken place along the front. Of these, 50 occurred in the Pokrovsk direction, according to a report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 56 air strikes, using one missile and dropping 147 guided aerial bombs. They also employed 2,275 kamikaze drones to conduct attacks and carried out 2,382 strikes on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and on populated areas.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian defenders repelled three attacks by the Russian army. Russia carried out two air strikes using four guided aerial bombs and also conducted 86 shelling attacks, one of which involved multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy attacked nine times near Vovchanski Khutory, Prylipky, Starytsia, and toward the settlements of Vilcha and Izbytske.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army launched 11 attacks in the areas of Pishchane and Kruhliakivka, and toward Petropavlivske, Novoplatonivka, and Kupiansk. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, since the start of the day, the Russians have attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 31 times near the settlements of Hrekivka, Novovodiane, Novoyehorivka, Novoselivka, Kopanky, Kolodiazi, Serednie, Ridkodub, Karpivka, and Zarichne, as well as toward the settlements of Lyman and Drobyshcheve. Fighting is still ongoing at two locations.
In the Sloviansk direction, the enemy attacked eight times in the areas of Siversk and Dronivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled three attacks in the area of Minkivka and toward Virolubivka.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian forces attacked the positions of the Defense Forces 21 times. The enemy advanced in the areas of the settlements of Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Yablunivka, Rusyn Yar, and toward Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian army launched 50 assaults in the areas of the settlements of Shakhove, Pankivka, Nykanorivka, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, and Dachne. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
Since the start of the day in this direction, 100 Russian soldiers have been neutralized, 71 of them irreversibly. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed four vehicles, 26 unmanned aerial vehicles, two satellite communications terminals, a UAV control antenna, two command posts, and a depot containing ammunition, fuel, and lubricants.
An artillery system, an armored combat vehicle, a vehicle, and six shelters for enemy personnel were also hit.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, defenders repelled 13 enemy attacks near the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Yalta, Tovste, Sichneve, Verbove, Vyshneve, Vorone, and Rybne. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 21 Russian attacks in the areas of Varvarivka, Solodke, and Huliaipole.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled six Russian attacks in the areas of the settlements of Mali Shcherbaky, Stepnohirsk, Stepove, and Mala Tokmachka. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, no combat engagements were recorded during the day.
Russian losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has lost approximately 1,202,070 military personnel, with 840 more lost in the past 24 hours alone.
In addition, the Defense Forces have destroyed three tanks, three armored combat vehicles, 74 artillery systems, one air defense system, 537 unmanned aerial vehicles, and 180 enemy vehicles.
