Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 18

Over the past day, December 17, there were 134 combat clashes on the front line. Russian troops continue to actively storm the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yesterday, the Russian troops carried out 42 air strikes on Ukrainian territory, dropped 136 guided bombs, launched 4,855 kamikaze drones, and carried out 3,869 shellings of Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas, including 118 from multiple launch rocket systems.
Russia carried out airstrikes using guided bombs on populated areas, including Pokrovske, Pidhavrylivka, and Bratske in the Dnipropetrovsk region; Sviatopetrivka, Kushuhum, and Zaporizhzhia in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Over the past day, the missile forces and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck an area where Russian personnel were concentrated, a command post, and two other important Russian targets.
Situation on fronts
Three combat engagements took place on the North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions over the past day. In addition, Russia carried out 139 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas, including 9 with multiple launch rocket systems.
In the South-Slobozhanskyi direction, Russia launched attacks on Ukrainian units six times near the settlements of Lyman, Odradne, Dovhenke, and in the direction of the settlement of Izbytske.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russia attacked 3 times during the day. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russia's assault in the Zahryzove area and towards the settlements of Pishchane and Hlushkivka.
In the Lyman direction, Russia attacked 15 times, trying to advance near the settlements of Novovodiane, Kolodiazi, Drobysheve, Novoselivka, and towards the settlement of Cherneshyna.
In the Sloviansk direction, in the areas of Serebrianka, Siversk, Zvanivka, and Pereizne, Russia attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops 5 times.
No combat engagements were recorded in the Kramatorsk direction.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russia carried out 17 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Oleksandro-Shultyne, Kleban-Byk, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, and in the direction of Kostiantynivka and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 38 Russian assaults and offensive actions in the areas of the settlements of Shakhove, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, and in the direction of Novopavlivka.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russia attacked Ukrainian positions nine times in the areas of the settlements of Oleksandrohrad, Sosnivka, Solodke, Pryvilne, Krasnohirsk, and in the direction of Dobropillia.
In the Huliaipole direction, Russia attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 10 times in the area of Huliaipole and in the direction of Varvarivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, Russia advanced 3 times in the Plavni area.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russia did not conduct any offensive operations in the past day.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups were detected.
Russia's losses in war against Ukraine
According to Ukraine's General Staff, Russia has lost approximately 1,193,300 military personnel since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In particular, over the past day, the Russian losses amounted to 950 troops.
Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed 5 Russian tanks, 27 artillery systems, 2 multiple launch rocket systems, an air defense system, 330 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles, and 119 vehicles.
