Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 8

Along the entire front line, 87 combat clashes have been recorded since the beginning of the day, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Today, the communities of the following settlements were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire:
- Huta-Studenetska, Bohdanove in Chernihiv region;
- Neskuchne, Stukalivka, Iskryskivshchyna, Ryzhivka, Bezsalivka, Bobylivka, Shalyhyne, Hirka, Buniakyne, Chernatske, Brusky, Studenok in Sumy region.
Situation on the fronts
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, enemy aviation carried out an airstrike, dropping three guided aerial bombs. In addition, the enemy conducted 68 shellings of the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the Defense Forces repelled four enemy attacks near Vovchansk, Synelnykove, Odradne, and Dovhenke, with three clashes still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Defense Forces are repelling four enemy attacks toward Petropavlivka and Pishchane.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army carried out seven attacks on Ukrainian positions near Novovodiane, Shandryholove, Kolodiazi, Drobysheve, and toward Lyman, with one battle still ongoing.
In the Sloviansk direction, Russian forces attempted six times to advance on Ukrainian troops' positions near Yampil, Serebrianka, Dronivka, and Fedorivka. The Defense Forces stopped all enemy attacks.
In the Kramatorsk direction, no enemy offensive actions have been recorded so far. The settlement of Rai-Oleksandrivka was hit by an airstrike.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy tried 15 times to break into Ukrainian defense near Oleksandro-Shultynske, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Yablunivka, Rusyn Yar, and toward Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian forces made 25 attempts to push Ukrainian troops from their positions near Shakhove, Fedorivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, and toward Novopavlivka. The Defense Forces are holding the line and have already repelled 22 attacks.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 11 enemy assault actions. The enemy is trying to advance near Zelenyi Hai, Sichneve, Verbove, Rybne, Krasnohirsk, and Vyshneve, with one clash still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, ten clashes occurred near Solodke, Pryvilne, Huliaipole, and toward Pryluky. Enemy aviation carried out airstrikes on settlements, including Ternuvate, Kosivtseve, Rizdvianka, and Zaliznychne.
In the Orikhiv direction, one enemy attack occurred since the beginning of the day. The Russian forces attempted to advance near Stepove and also carried out an airstrike with KAB bombs on Zaporizhzhia.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, no clashes have been recorded so far.
Russian losses in the war
According to the General Staff, Russian forces lost a total of 810 personnel yesterday.
Ukrainian troops also destroyed two tanks, one armored combat vehicle, 10 artillery systems, 530 operational-tactical level drones, four missiles, 47 vehicles, and three units of enemy special equipment.
