Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 23

As of 4:00 PM Kyiv time on November 23, 117 combat clashes have occurred on the front since the start of the day, with the highest number recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
The Russian army carried out artillery strikes from Russian territory on Mykolaivka and Mykhalchyna-Sloboda in the Chernihiv region, as well as Bila Bereza, Starykove, Kucherivka, and Shalyhyne in the Sumy region.
Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Russian forces launched six attacks on Ukrainian positions, with one engagement still ongoing. They also conducted an airstrike using two guided aerial bombs and carried out 60 strikes on settlements and Ukrainian units.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy attacked three times near Vovchansk and Synelnykove, with one clash continuing.
In the Kupiansk direction, fighting continues near Stepova Novoselivka.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled six enemy attacks near Novoiehorivka, Serednie, Zarichne, and toward Novyi Myr, with one engagement still active.
In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled four attacks, while one clash remains ongoing. Russian units attempted to advance near Yampil, Serebrianka, Sakko, and Vantsetti.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces attempted an offensive near Chasiv Yar since the start of the day.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy carried out 24 offensive actions near Shcherbynivka, Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, and toward Kostiantynivka, Predtechyne, and Sofiivka, with one attack still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy attempted to advance 42 times near Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Novoekonomichne, Nikanorivka, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, Filiia, and toward Novopavlivka.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, the aggressor launched 12 attacks near Zelenyi Hai, Vorone, Oleksiivka, Verbove, Pryvilne, and Krasnohirsk.
In the Huliaipole direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled six attacks near Zelenyi Hai, Zatyshshia, Vysoke, and toward Pryluky. Russian aviation also struck Vozdvyzhivka and Huliaipole.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled six attacks near Stepove, Stepnohirsk, and Prymorske.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, two enemy attacks were repelled toward the Antonivskyi Bridge.
No significant changes were reported in other directions.
Russian losses in the war against Ukraine
From November 22 to 23, Russian forces lost 920 soldiers in combat against Ukraine. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed two tanks, 26 artillery systems, 496 drones, and 80 vehicles.
Overall, Russian army losses since the start of the full-scale war have exceeded 1.1 million personnel.
