Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 17

Throughout Monday, November 17, there were 137 combat engagements on the front. Ukrainian soldiers continue inflicting fire damage on the occupiers and prevent them from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
Overall, today the Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 47 air strikes, using two missiles and 101 guided aerial bombs. The Russian army also attacked the positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers with 3,435 kamikaze drones and shelled the positions of Ukrainian defenders and populated areas 3,332 times.
Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian forces repelled seven Russian assault actions during the day. Russia launched four air strikes, dropping ten guided aerial bombs, and conducted 125 attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas, seven of which were from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the Russian army carried out six assaults on the positions of Ukrainian units near Vovchansk and toward the settlement of Dvorichanske.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces attempted to advance three times in the areas of the settlements of Pischane and Stepova Novoselivka.
In the Lyman direction, Russia conducted nine attacks on the Defense Forces’ positions near the settlements of Novyi Myr, Zarichne, and Drobysheve.
In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters repelled ten enemy assaults. The Russian forces attempted to advance in the areas of Dronivka, Serebrianka, Siversk, and Fedorivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces twice tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian defenders in the areas of Stupochky and Orikhovo-Vasylivka.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian forces launched 19 assaults on the positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the areas of Shcherbynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka, and toward Kostiantynivka and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, 34 combat engagements have taken place since the beginning of the day. The Russian forces attempted to attack in the areas of the settlements of Mayak, Fedorivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and Dachne. Fighting is currently ongoing in two locations.
According to preliminary data, in this direction today, Ukrainian defenders neutralized 103 Russian soldiers, of whom 79 were eliminated. One vehicle and 18 drones were also neutralized, and nine enemy shelters were hit.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, the Russian army made 13 attempts to break through the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defenses in the areas of the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Vorone, Sosnivka, Berezove, Krasnohirské, and Pershotravneve. One combat engagement is still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders ten times in the areas of the settlements of Solodke, Rivnopillia, Yablukove, and Zelenyi Hai.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Russian army launched an assault toward the settlement of Prymorske.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy twice unsuccessfully attempted to approach the positions of Ukrainian soldiers.
Enemy losses
On Sunday, November 16, the aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck one concentration area of enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment, as well as one artillery system belonging to the Russian forces.
Over the past day, the losses of the Russian forces amounted to 1,160 personnel. The enemy also lost two tanks, three armored combat vehicles, 17 artillery systems, one MLRS, two air-defense systems, 213 operational-tactical UAVs, and 72 units of automotive equipment.
