As of 4:00 p.m. Kyiv time on Monday, November 17, there were 81 combat engagements on the front. The hottest area once again was the Pokrovsk direction, according to a report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Over the past 24 hours, communities in border settlements have suffered from attacks by Russian artillery. In particular, these include Malushyne, Stara Huta, and Bobylivka in the Sumy region, and Khrinivka and Klyusy in the Chernihiv region.
Situation on the fronts
Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions: There were seven combat engagements with the Russian army over the past 24 hours. In addition, Russia carried out three airstrikes, dropped eight guided bombs, and conducted 61 shellings of Ukrainian positions and settlements.
Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction: The Defense Forces repelled four Russian attacks near Vovchansk and toward the settlement of Dvorichanske. Two combat engagements are ongoing.
Kupiansk direction: Russian forces attempted three times to break through Ukrainian defenses in the areas of Pishchane and Stepova Novoselivka. Two engagements are still ongoing.
Lyman direction: The Russian army carried out six attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Novyi Myr, Zarichne, and Drobysheve. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
Sloviansk direction: The Defense Forces repelled nine enemy attacks. The Russian troops were active in the areas of Dronivka, Serebrianka, Siversk, and Fedorivka.
Kramatorsk direction: Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions twice today in the areas of Stupochky and Orikhovo-Vasylivka.
Kostiantynivka direction: The enemy carried out 15 assault actions in the areas of Shcherbynivka, Rusynyi Yar, Yablunivka, and toward Kostiantynivka and Sofiivka.
Pokrovsk direction: Russia made 18 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions near the settlements of Maiak, Fedorivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and Dachne.
The Defense Forces have already repelled 15 enemy attacks. Fighting is ongoing in three locations. Ukrainian defenders are conducting strike-and-search operations in several areas, destroying Russian forces.
Oleksandrivka direction: The Russian army tried to break through Ukrainian defenses near the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Vorone, Sosnivka, Berezove, and Pershotravneve. The Defense Forces repelled seven enemy assaults.
Huliaipole direction: The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled five attacks by the Russian troops in the areas of Solodke, Rivnopillia, and Zelenyi Hai. One combat engagement is ongoing. Russian aviation carried out strikes on the settlements of Vozdvyzhivka and Bilohiria.
Orikhiv direction: No combat engagements have been recorded at this time.
Prydniprovskyi direction: The enemy twice unsuccessfully attempted to approach Ukrainian positions.
Enemy losses
Over the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces’ aviation, missile troops, and artillery struck one concentration area of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, as well as one Russian artillery system.
On November 16, the total losses of Russian troops amounted to 1,160 personnel. The enemy also lost two tanks, three armored combat vehicles, 17 artillery systems, one MLRS, two air defense systems, 213 operational-tactical level drones, and 72 vehicles.
