As of 4:00 PM Kyiv time on November 16, Ukrainian forces reported 151 combat engagements. The Pokrovsk direction remains the hottest, with nearly all Russian attacks repelled, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian shelling

Today, Russian artillery strikes hit the border regions of Ukraine, including the settlements of:

  • Yasna Poliana in the Chernihiv region;
  • Bila Bereza, Malushyne, Novovasylivka, Khodyne, Brusky, and Bobylivka in the Sumy region.

Frontline situation

In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, the Russian army carried out one airstrike, dropping three guided aerial bombs, and conducted 87 shelling attacks, including five from multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian forces repelled four enemy assaults near Vovchansk and in the directions of Dvorichanske and Obukhivka. Two combat engagements remain ongoing.

In the Kupiansk direction, since the start of the day, Russians have launched seven attacks, targeting the settlements of Pishchane, Kupiansk, and Holubivka. Three combat engagements continue.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian units repelled 11 attacks in the areas of Cherneshchyna, Novyi Myr, Hrekivka, Karpivka, Korovii Yar, Drobysheve, Terny, and Zarichne. Two combat engagements remain ongoing.

In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian forces successfully stopped five Russian attacks near Yampil, Serebrianka, Vyimka, and Zvanivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, four combat engagements occurred near Maiske and Chasiv Yar. Three enemy attacks are ongoing.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 20 enemy attacks in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, Poltavka, Sofiivka, and toward Novopavlivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, since the start of the day, the Russian army launched 58 attacks on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Volodymyrivka, Bilytske, Nove Shakhove, Nikanorivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Novoekonomichne, Pokrovsk, Sukhyi Yar, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Novomykolaivka, Dachne, Filiia, and toward Novopidhorodne, Hryshyne, Kucheriv Yar, and Vilne. Ukrainian defenders repelled 50 of these attacks.

In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russian forces attempted 16 times to break through Ukrainian positions. Defense Forces stopped all enemy advances near Zelenyi Hai, Yalta, Andriivka-Klevtsove, Oleksandrohrad, Voskresenka, Stepove, Verbove, Oleksiivka, Pavlivka, Pryvilne, Krasnohirsk, and Zlahoda. The enemy also carried out an airstrike near Demuryne.

In the Huliaipole direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven enemy attacks near Dobropillia, Rivnopillia, Zelenyi Hai, Vesele, Bilohirya, and Ternuvate. Russian forces struck the settlements of Huliaipole, Vozdvizhenka, Bilohirya, and Ternuvate with guided aerial bombs.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy conducted one unsuccessful offensive near Stepnohirsk.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled one attack toward the Antonivskyi Bridge.

Russian losses in the war against Ukraine

Russian forces continue to lose soldiers and equipment daily in battles against Ukraine. From November 15 to 16 alone, the Russian army lost 860 troops. Ukrainian forces also destroyed three tanks, 26 artillery systems, and 68 vehicles.

Since the start of the full-scale war, the Russian army's losses have exceeded 1.1 million personnel.
