Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 8

Ukrainian defenders repelled intense attacks by Russian forces across all frontlines on November 8, according to a post by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Telegram. The enemy heavily used aviation, guided bombs, and kamikaze drones.
As of 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time on November 8, 185 combat engagements were recorded. Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 37 airstrikes, fired 41 missiles, and dropped 71 guided aerial bombs.
The enemy also deployed 3,667 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,732 shellings of Ukrainian positions and populated areas.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, 11 combat engagements were recorded over the day. The enemy conducted nine airstrikes, using 17 guided aerial bombs, and carried out 149 shellings, eight of which involved multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy launched 17 attacks near Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Synelnykove, Tykhe, and in the direction of Dvorichanske and Kolodiazne.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces carried out six assaults toward Petropavlivka and Pishchane, two of which are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled three assaults in the areas of Zarichne, Derylove, and Korovyachyi Yar.
In the Sloviansk direction, 14 attacks were recorded near Yampil, Serebrianka, Dronivka, Vyimka, and Fedorivka, with three battles still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian units stopped an enemy advance near Zaliznyanske.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian forces attempted to storm defensive positions near Yablunivka, Shcherbynivka, and Sofiivka, resulting in nine combat engagements.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy showed the highest activity here, launching 69 attacks in the areas of Volodymyrivka, Fedorivka, Nikanorivka, Krasnyi Lyman, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, and other settlements.
Preliminary reports indicate 93 enemy fighters were neutralized, including 58 irreversibly. Ukrainian forces also destroyed a tank, an artillery system, eight vehicles, nine drones, a UAV command post, and 11 enemy fortifications.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, 18 attacks were repelled in the areas of Zelenyi Hai, Orestopil, Sosnivka, Voronoe, Novomykolaivka, Pryvilehiya, and Krasnohorske.
In the Huliaipole direction, nine engagements occurred, while in the Orikhiv direction, there were two, with the enemy attempting to advance near Plavni.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian forces also halted enemy advances.
The situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains difficult - Russian forces have breached the city and are trying to consolidate in residential areas, aiming to set the stage for a full encirclement.
Additionally, Poland has seen an intensification of information and psychological operations targeting Ukraine, aimed at creating anxiety among residents and fostering the perception of a threat from the presence of Ukrainian refugees.
