Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 28

Over the past 24 hours, 218 combat clashes were recorded along the front. Ukrainian defenders are steadily holding back the enemy’s advance, inflicting significant losses on Russian forces, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, yesterday the enemy carried out 89 airstrikes, dropping 186 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russian forces conducted 3,938 shelling attacks, including 132 with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), and deployed 3,435 kamikaze drones.
Airstrikes targeted the following settlements:
- Raihorodok, Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region;
- Ternuvate, Nove Zaporizhzhia in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Situation on the fronts
North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions
Ukrainian forces repelled 10 enemy attacks. The Russians carried out 10 airstrikes using 24 guided bombs and 149 artillery attacks, including three with MLRS.
South-Slobozhanskyi direction
Russian troops launched 11 assaults near Vovchansk, Boholivka, Odradne, and toward Bochkove.
Kupiansk direction
The enemy carried out nine assaults in the areas of Stepova Novoselivka, Zelenyi Hai, and toward Pishchane.
Lyman direction
Russian forces attacked 10 times, attempting to break through Ukrainian defenses near Serednie, Myrne, Shandryholove, Nadiia, and Zarichne.
Sloviansk direction
There were 11 enemy assaults near Yampil, Serebrianka, Vyimka, Fedorivka, and toward Zvanivka.
Kramatorsk direction
Russian troops attacked four times near Chasiv Yar, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, and Zaliznianske.
Kostiantynivka direction
The enemy carried out 32 attacks in the areas of Oleksandro-Kalynove, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Yablunivka, and Rusyn Yar.
Pokrovsk direction
Ukrainian defenders repelled 79 assaults near Nykanorivka, Pankivka, Sukhetske, Rodynske, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Molodetske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoukrainka, and Horikhove.
Oleksandrivka direction
Russian forces attacked 28 times near Zelenyi Hai, Filiia, Piddubne, Oleksandrohrad, Novoselivka, Verbove, Oleksiivka, Novohryhorivka, and Uspenivka.
Huliaipole direction
Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks near Malynivka and toward Novomykolaivka.
Orikhiv direction
Ukrainian troops repelled five assaults near Stepove, Kamianske, and toward Novodanilivka and Novoandriivka.
Prydniprovskyi direction
The enemy made four unsuccessful attempts to advance.
Volyn and Polissya directions
No signs of Russian offensive group formation have been detected.
Enemy losses
Ukrainian forces continue to inflict heavy losses on Russian personnel and equipment, targeting their offensive potential in the rear.
Over the past day, the missile and artillery units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck:
- 8 areas where enemy personnel were concentrated;
- 1 weapons and equipment concentration site;
- 1 command post of the occupiers.
In total, during the last 24 hours, Russian losses amounted to 1,060 troops. Ukrainian forces also destroyed:
- 6 tanks;
- 28 troop-carrying AFVs;
- 8 artillery systems;
- 2 MLRS units;
- 108 UAVs;
- 131 vehicles;
- 3 special equipment.
