As of 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time on October 18, 116 battles were reported along the front. The Russian army attempted to advance 39 times in the Pokrovsk direction, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

Russian shelling

Today, Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 60 airstrikes. They launched three missiles and dropped 124 guided bombs. In addition, they deployed 2,734 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,836 attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas.

Frontline situation

In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian forces repelled three assault actions by Russian troops since the start of the day, while two clashes are ongoing. The enemy also carried out 10 airstrikes, dropping 28 guided bombs, and shelled Ukrainian positions and populated areas 132 times, including five attacks with multiple-launch rocket systems.

In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions eight times near Odradne, Kamianka, and Bolohivka.

In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces conducted offensive actions near Stepova Novoselivka, Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, and toward Pishchane. Ukrainian forces repelled six of eight attacks, while two clashes are still ongoing.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked twice near Novyi Myr and Zarichne.

In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled seven enemy assaults as Russian troops tried to advance near Yampil, Dronivka, and Vyimka. One clash is ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy attempted twice to breach Ukrainian defenses near Orikhovo-Vasylivka but failed.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions nine times near Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, and Rusyn Yar. Ukrainian forces repelled all attacks.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops attempted 39 advances on Ukrainian positions since the start of the day near Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Myroliubivka, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and Kotliarivka. Fighting continues in five locations.

“Preliminary data indicate that 83 Russian soldiers were neutralized in this direction today, including 50 irreversibly. Ukrainian forces also destroyed an artillery system, 10 UAVs, a control antenna, and a UAV command post. Seven enemy shelters and two UAV control points were hit,” the General Staff reported.

In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy attempted 15 times to breach Ukrainian defenses near Sosnivka, Vorone, Novomykolaivka, Novohryhorivka, and Malynivka.

In the Huliaipole direction, Russian troops did not conduct offensive actions.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy attacked twice near Stepove.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian forces tried three times in vain to approach Ukrainian defensive positions toward the Antonivskyi Bridge.

In other directions, there were no significant changes.

Russian army losses

Earlier today, The Economist reported that during the spring 2025 offensive, Russian forces lost at least 100,000 soldiers in battles against Ukraine. The Russian army captured only 0.4% of Ukrainian territory.

According to the Ukrainian General Staff, Russian losses in the full-scale war now exceed 1.1 million personnel.
