Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of Оctober 18

As of 4:00 PM Kyiv time on October 18, there have been 74 combat clashes along the front since the start of the day. The highest number of engagements was again recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
Russian shelling
Today, communities in border settlements were hit by enemy artillery fire, including:
- Serhiivske, Huta-Studenetska, and Khrinivka in the Chernihiv region.
- Stara Huta, Bunyakyne, Novovasylivka, Brusky, and Bila Bereza in the Sumy region.
Airstrikes hit Pishchane and Radkivka in the Sumy region.
Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, two combat clashes with Russian forces have occurred since the start of the day. The enemy also carried out seven airstrikes, dropping 11 guided bombs, and launched 88 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including three from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian forces repelled five attacks near Odradne, Kamianka, and Bolohivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces attempted six times to break through Ukrainian defenses near Stepova Novoselivka and toward Pishchane.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army launched an attack near Novyi Myr.
In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled five Russian attacks. The enemy was active near Yampil and Dronivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy twice tried to breach defenses near Orikhovo-Vasylivka.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the Russian army carried out seven assaults near Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, and Rusyn Yar.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces made 31 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from positions near Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Myroliubivka, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and Kotliarivka. Ukrainian forces held the line and repelled all attacks.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy tried to break through near Sosnivka, Vorone, Novomykolaivka, Novohryhorivka, and Malynivka. Defense Forces repelled nine assaults, with two clashes still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy conducted no offensive actions, though Dolynka was hit by an airstrike.
In the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces attacked once near Stepove and carried out an airstrike on Stepnohirsk.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Russian army made three unsuccessful attempts to approach Ukrainian positions near the Antonivskyi Bridge. Odradokamianka was hit by unguided air-launched rockets.
In other directions, there were no significant changes.
Russian army losses
Over the past day, from October 17 to 18, Russian forces lost 1,150 soldiers in battles against Ukraine. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 41 artillery systems, 498 drones, and 131 vehicles.
Since the start of the full-scale war, the Russian army's losses in combat against Ukraine have exceeded 1.1 million personnel.
