As of 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time on October 16, there were 146 combat engagements on the front since the start of the day, with the highest number again recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Enemy attacks
During the day, the terrorist state carried out one missile strike and 63 airstrikes, launched 37 rockets, and dropped 125 guided bombs. In addition, the Russian army deployed 2,372 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,301 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements.
Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, the enemy launched two attacks on Ukrainian positions. They also carried out seven airstrikes, dropped 19 guided bombs, and conducted 182 shelling attacks, including 20 with multiple launch rocket systems.
The enemy launched 14 attacks in the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction near Vovchansk, Vovchansk Khutory, Kamianka, and in the directions of Kolodyazne, Bologivka, and Kutkivka. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army tried to advance on our positions 11 times in the areas of Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Bohuslavka, and in the directions of Kurylivka and Borova.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled ten Russian attacks today. The enemy advanced near Derylove, Ridkodub, Torske, Kolodyazi, Zarichne, and in the directions of Druzhlyubivka and Lyman. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled three enemy attacks. The Russian army tried to advance near Serebrianka and Yampil. One battle is still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, our troops repelled 16 enemy attacks today near Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, and in the directions of Kostiantynivka, Stepanivka, and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian army attacked our positions 42 times today in the areas of Shakhove, Nikanorivka, Volodymyrivka, Dorozhne, Chervonyi Lyman, Novoekonomichne, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Lysivka, Udachne, Filiya, and in the directions of Myrnohrad, Novopavlivka, Bilytske, and Balahan. Two attacks are still ongoing.
“According to preliminary estimates, the Russian army suffered 153 casualties - killed and wounded - today in the Pokrovsk direction. Our troops destroyed two tanks, one artillery system, 21 drones, two UAV control points, four vehicles, and one piece of special equipment. They also struck three vehicles, one piece of special equipment, three artillery systems, three UAV control points, and 12 enemy personnel shelters,” the report said.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, our defenders repelled 20 enemy attacks near Zelenyi Hai, Novokhatske, Sichneve, Sosnivka, Verbove, Novomykolaivka, Ivanivka, Oleksandrohrad, and Novohryhorivka. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy launched five attacks on our positions near Poltavka and Malynivka. Four combat engagements are still ongoing. The village of Zaliznychne came under an airstrike.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy carried out one unsuccessful offensive action near Stepove.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks. Kozatske came under an airstrike.
Russian army losses
From October 15 to 16, Russian forces lost an additional 1,080 soldiers in battles against Ukraine. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed 42 artillery systems, 139 vehicles, and 416 strike drones.
Since the start of the full-scale war, Russian personnel losses have already exceeded 1.1 million.
