Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of Оctober 8

Since the beginning of the day, a total of 162 combat clashes have taken place along the front line. Russian forces are most actively attacking in the Pokrovsk, Southern-Slobozhanskyi, and Oleksandrivka directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian troops launched 59 airstrikes, dropping 113 guided bombs, deployed 1,768 kamikaze drones, and carried out 3,238 shelling attacks targeting Ukrainian positions and populated areas.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, there were nine combat clashes. The enemy conducted nine airstrikes, dropped 27 guided bombs, and carried out 148 artillery attacks, including five from multiple rocket launchers.
Russian forces attacked 21 times in the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, near Vovchansk, Zapadne, Dovhenke, towards Kolodiazne, Kutkivka, Odradne, Dvorichanske, and Lyptsi. Fighting continues in five locations.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army made six attempts to advance near Kupiansk, Stepova Novoselivka, and towards Kuryliivka. Three clashes are still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defense forces repelled six assaults and are holding back four more assaults near Novomykhailivka, Shandryholove, Derylove, Karpivka, Torske, and toward Olhivka and Novyi Myr.
In the Sloviansk direction, the enemy attacked seven times near Yampil, Dronivka, and Hryhorivka.
No offensive actions were recorded in the Kramatorsk direction today.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, 15 clashes occurred near Rusyn Yar, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Poltavka, and toward Kostiantynivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of this day, the enemy has attacked 37 times near Zatyshok, Nykanorivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Lysivka, Razine, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Dachne, Muravka, and toward Myrnohrad, Balahan, Pokrovsk, and Filiia. Ukrainian defenders are holding their ground, with three clashes still ongoing.
Preliminary reports indicate 122 Russian troops neutralized, including 87 killed, along with the destruction of one gun, two vehicles, two motorcycles, 20 drones, four pieces of special equipment, and one UAV control post.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 24 assaults near Andriivka-Klevtsove, Piddubne, Sosnivka, Filiia, Sichneve, Komyshuvakha, Vorone, Oleksiivka, Novomykolaivka, Novohryhorivka, Poltavka, and Malynivka, with eight battles ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy struck Bilohiria with air attacks.
In the Orikhiv direction, seven combat clashes occurred as Russian forces attempted to advance near Stepove and toward Novoandriivka.
Settlements Stepnohirsk and Lukianivske were hit by unguided air-to-surface missiles.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian forces stopped an enemy attempt to advance toward the Antonivskyi Bridge, and Russian forces launched an airstrike on Prydniprovske.
No significant changes were reported in other directions.
Russian losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost approximately 1,118,370 troops.
In the past 24 hours alone, Russian forces lost 1,010 soldiers. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed 2 tanks, 5 armored fighting vehicles, 1 multiple rocket launcher system, 1 air defense system, 401 drones, and other enemy equipment.
