As of 22:00 Kyiv time on September 28, there have been 109 combat engagements on the front line. The largest number of battles was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff report.

Enemy attacks

The Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 58 airstrikes, launched 50 missiles, and dropped 108 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the Russian army used 2,706 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,391 attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas.

Frontline situation

In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian soldiers repelled six enemy assault actions since the beginning of the day, with one battle still ongoing. The enemy also carried out four airstrikes, dropping eight guided aerial bombs, and conducted 130 attacks, seven of which were with multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian defenders’ positions four times in the areas of Vovchansk, Ambarne, and Kamianka, with three combat engagements still ongoing.

In the Kupiansk direction, enemy units carried out three assault actions, attempting to break through to our defensive positions near Kupiansk and Zahryzove. One battle is still underway.

In the Lyman direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions four times in the areas of Torske, Derylove, Shandryholove, and toward the settlement of Stavky.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy attempted to break through eight times near Fedorivka, Hryhorivka, Serebrianka, and in the direction of Yampil and Dronivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, one combat engagement was recorded as enemy units attempted to advance toward Predtechyne.

In the Toretsk direction, the Russian forces attacked the Defense Forces’ positions seven times. The Russian army concentrated its offensive efforts in the areas of Shcherbynivka, Stepanivka, Pleshchiivka, Poltavka, Oleksandro-Kalynove, and Rusyn Yar. Two battles are still ongoing.

Since the beginning of the day in the Pokrovsk direction, Russian units attempted 41 times to break through Ukrainian defenses in the areas of Volodymyrivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Nykonorivka, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Novoekonomichne, Filiia, and toward Myrnohrad, Rodynske, and Balahan. Fighting continues in six locations.

“The Defense Forces are holding back enemy assaults, and the adversary is suffering heavy losses — today, 152 Russian soldiers have been neutralized in this direction, 96 of them irrecoverably. Our defenders destroyed three vehicles and 32 unmanned aerial vehicles. Three artillery systems, two tanks, and six vehicles were also heavily damaged. In addition, Ukrainian defenders struck eight enemy personnel shelters,” the report states.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian units stopped 10 enemy attacks on our positions in the areas of Ternove, Piddubne, Maliivka, Novomykolaivka, Verbove, and toward the settlement of Andriivka-Klevtsove, with three combat engagements still ongoing.

In the Huliaipole direction, our defenders repelled two enemy attacks in the area of Poltavka. Enemy aircraft struck Zaliznychne and Novoselivka.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy made two unsuccessful attempts to advance and suffered losses. At the same time, the enemy carried out an airstrike on the settlement of Olhivka.

Russian army losses

Over the previous day, from September 27 to 28, the Russians lost another 1,110 soldiers in battles against Ukraine. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 45 artillery systems, 454 drones, and 131 vehicles.

Enemy losses since the beginning of the full-scale war have already exceeded 1.1 million personnel.
