Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 23

Since the start of the day, there have been 98 combat clashes on the front. The hottest area remains the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, the enemy attacked Defense Forces positions seven times, and fighting continues. The enemy also carried out five airstrikes using 14 guided bombs and conducted 104 shellings, two of which involved multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, seven clashes occurred. The enemy attacked areas near Vovchansk, Odradne, and Zapadne.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy made three attempts during the day to advance on Ukrainian positions near Kupiansk and Petropavlivka. Defense Forces successfully repelled two attacks, and one clash is ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled five offensive actions by the Russian army near Kolodiazi, Novoselivka, Torske, and Shandryholove; three clashes are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled two enemy attacks. The units of the Russian army attempted to advance near Yampil.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled one enemy attack near Kostiantynivka.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russian army advanced eight times on the positions of the Ukrainian army near Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Kleban-Byk, Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka, and Poltavka. Defense Forces successfully stopped all enemy attempts to advance.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy tried 38 times during the day to advance on positions of the Ukrainian army near Volodymyrivka, Nikanorivka, Nove Shakhove, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Rodynske, Mykolaivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, and in the direction of Novoukrainka and Filiia. Two clashes are ongoing.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy attacked 18 times near Piddubne, Sichneve, Komyshuvakha, Novomykolaivka, and Novoivanivka. Four clashes are ongoing.
In the Orikhiv and Prydniprovskyi directions, the enemy has not carried out offensive actions so far.
In the Huliaipole direction, Defense Forces repelled three enemy attacks near Poltavka. One enemy attempt to advance on Ukrainian positions failed, and two clashes are ongoing.
Russian losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has lost approximately 1,103,580 troops.
Specifically, in the past day, the Russian army lost 1,010 soldiers. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 5 tanks, 53 artillery systems, 2 MLRS, 485 drones, and other enemy equipment.
