Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 20

Russian shelling

The General Staff reported that Russian forces carried out one combined missile strike today, launching 37 missiles. They conducted 34 airstrikes, dropping 54 guided bombs. In addition, the enemy deployed 2,536 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,387 attacks on Ukrainian military positions and settlements.

Frontline situation

In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, five combat clashes occurred with Russian forces. The enemy carried out four airstrikes, dropped five guided bombs, and launched 115 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements. One attack involved multiple-launch rocket systems.

In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions seven times near Vovchansk, Krasne Pershe, and toward Bochkove. Three attacks are ongoing.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched two offensive actions toward Myrne.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 13 Russian assaults near Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Shandryholove, and toward Novoselivka. Seven clashes are still ongoing.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy attacked toward Dronivka three times. All attacks were repelled.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy assaults near Chasiv Yar.

In the Toretsk direction, 22 clashes occurred. The enemy attacked positions near Ivanopillya, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Stepanivka, Rusyn Yar, Poltavka, and Sofiivka. Three attacks are ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attacked positions 33 times since the start of the day near Volodymyrivka, Nikanorivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Novoekonomichne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, and toward Kozatske and Novopavlivka. One clash is ongoing.

"Today, in this direction, preliminary reports indicate 178 soldiers were neutralized, 118 of them permanently. In addition, Ukrainian troops destroyed one artillery gun, 12 drones, and three vehicles. Two enemy drone control points and one artillery system were also damaged," the General Staff said.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 attacks near Filiia, Andriivka-Klevtsove, Sichneve, Maliivka, Komyshuvakha, Novoivanivka, and toward Berezove and Novovasylivske. Two clashes are ongoing.

In the Huliaipole direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions four times near Olhivske and carried out an airstrike on Bilohiria.

In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy attack toward Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy conducted an airstrike on Kozatske and made two unsuccessful attempts to approach Ukrainian positions near the Antonivskyi Bridge.

Russian army losses

Over the past days, from September 19 to 20, Russian forces lost 1,070 soldiers in battles against Ukraine. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 31 artillery systems, 365 drones, and 124 vehicles.

As of today, September 20, Russian army losses have exceeded 1.1 million personnel, including killed and wounded.
