Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 16

Since the beginning of the day, there have been 85 combat engagements at the front. The enemy is most active in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, the enemy attempted offensive actions five times. Enemy aviation carried out one airstrike, dropping two guided bombs, and the enemy also conducted 74 shelling attacks, including two from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian forces repelled two enemy assaults near Vovchansk and Lyptsi.
Since the start of the day, the enemy has attacked the Kupiansk direction five times toward Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, and Pishchane, with two engagements still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian units repelled three attacks toward Shyikivka, Shandryholove, and near Kolodiazi. Two attacks are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled eight enemy attacks, with enemy units trying to advance in the areas of Serebrianka, Hryhorivka, and toward the settlements of Vyimka, Yampil, and Dronivka. Three engagements are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, there was one engagement with the enemy near Orikhovo-Vasylivka.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 11 times in the areas of Shcherbynivka, Katerynivka, Poltavka, Rusyn Yar, and toward Ivanopillia and Pleshchiivka. Ukrainian units repelled nine attacks, with two engagements ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the start of the day, the Russian army launched 36 attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Vilne, Shakhove, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Novoekonomichne, Promin, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, and Novoukrainka. Ukrainian defenders have already repelled 29 attacks.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions nine times near the settlements of Filiia, Ivanivka, Oleksandrograd, Maliivka, and Novoivanivka. Four engagements are ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, no combat engagements were recorded. The enemy carried out airstrikes near the settlements of Bilohiria and Zaliznychne.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy carried out an airstrike near Hryhorivka but did not conduct offensive actions.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks. Enemy aviation carried out strikes with unguided missiles near Odradokamianka.
Russian losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has lost approximately 1,096,430 military personnel.
In particular, over the past day, Russian army losses amounted to 910 soldiers. Ukrainian fighters also destroyed five combat armored vehicles, 26 artillery systems, two MLRS, 310 drones, and other enemy equipment yesterday.
