Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 6

As of 4:00 PM on September 6, 68 combat clashes were recorded on the front since the start of the day. Half of them occurred on the Pokrovsk direction, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
Today, communities in border areas suffer from Russian artillery fire, including:
- Senkivka, Yanzhulivka in the Chernihiv region;
- Novovasylivka, Nova Huta, Khliborob, Fotovyzh, Tovstodubove, Bachivsk, Bobylivka, Bila Bereza, Bunyakyne, Hirky in the Sumy region.
Russian aviation also struck near the settlement of Hremyach.
Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, three combat clashes have occurred since the start of the day. One is still ongoing. The Russian army also carried out eight airstrikes, dropping 20 guided bombs, and launched 80 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and nearby settlements.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian forces repelled one Russian attack. Three other clashes are ongoing. Russian troops are attempting to advance near Vovchansk, Ambarne, and toward Novovasylivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces tried once to breach Ukrainian defenses near Kupiansk but failed.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched seven attacks on Ukrainian positions near Hrekivka, Karpivka, Kolodyazi, and toward Shandryholove and Derylove. Three clashes are ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled four attacks. Five other clashes are ongoing. The enemy tried to advance near Serebrianka, Hryhorivka, Pereizne, and toward Dronivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russian army attacked Ukrainian positions once near Bondarne.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy carried out three assault actions near Rusyn Yar, Poltavka, and toward Pleshchiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attempted 34 times to push back Ukrainian defenders from positions near Shakhove, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Dachne, and toward Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Molodetske, Novopavlivka, and Filiia. Ukrainian forces held the line and repelled 32 attacks. Two clashes are ongoing.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy tried to break through Ukrainian defenses near Zelenyi Hai, Shevchenko, Komyshuvakha, and toward Filiia and Novoselivka. Ukrainian forces repelled seven assaults, with one attack still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled one Russian attack toward Stepnohirsk.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian aviation carried out an airstrike near Odradokamyanka.
In the Huliaipole direction, Russian forces did not conduct any offensive actions.
In other directions, the situation remained largely unchanged.
Russian army losses
As a reminder, from September 5 to 6, Russian forces lost another 960 soldiers in battles against Ukraine. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed 39 artillery systems, 256 drones, and 119 units of vehicles.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the Russian army's losses have reached nearly 1.1 million personnel.
