Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 28

Since the start of August 28, 137 combat engagements have occurred on the front line, with heavy fighting reported in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the Ukrainian General Staff’s Telegram channel.
The enemy carried out one combined missile-air strike and 50 air strikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, using 33 missiles and dropping 74 guided aerial bombs, in addition to 2,276 attacks by kamikaze drones and 3,619 artillery shellings.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian forces repelled eight enemy assault attempts, with one engagement still ongoing.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian forces repelled two attacks near Hlyboke and Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops attempted five times to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Zapadne, Synkivka, Holubivka, and Zahryzove. Fighting is ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched 31 attacks, attempting to advance near Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Karpivka, Zelena Dolyna, Kolodiazi, Torske, and toward Yampol, Dronivka, and Serebrianka. Five engagements are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian troops stopped nine attacks near Hryhorivka, Vyimka, and Pereizne, with one engagement still in progress.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the Defense Forces repelled four enemy attempts to advance toward Stupochky. The enemy tried six times to breach defenses in the Toretsk direction near Shcherbynivka. Konstantynivka and Illinivka were struck by air raids.
During the day, Russian forces carried out 37 assault and offensive operations in the Pokrovsk direction, targeting the areas of Poltavka, Volodymyrivka, Novoekonomichne, Rodynske, Lysivka, Sukhyi Yar, Dachenske, Zvirove, Udachne, Horykhove, and Novoukrainka. Fighting is currently ongoing in four locations.
Preliminary estimates indicate that Ukrainian forces neutralized 125 enemy combatants in this direction, including 90 killed. An artillery system, six vehicles, nine drones, two UAV control points, and two military-technical storage facilities were destroyed. Additionally, an enemy artillery system and nine shelters for personnel were damaged.
In the Novopavlivka direction, defenders repelled ten enemy attacks near Voskresenka, Maliivka, Zelenyi Hai, Piddubne, Oleksandrohrad, and Zaporizke, with five engagements still ongoing. The enemy carried out an airstrike on Malomykhailivka. In the Huliaipilsk direction, no offensive actions by the Russian forces were recorded.
In the Orikhiv direction, one combat engagement occurred, as the enemy attempted to advance near Stepove.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian forces repelled three enemy attacks.
As previously reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the Ukrainian General Staff, since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has lost approximately 1,078,750 military personnel.
In the past 24 hours alone, Ukrainian defenders have eliminated an additional 880 enemy combatants.
Yesterday, Ukrainian troops also destroyed 4 tanks and 40 artillery systems.
