Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 24

As of 10:00 PM Kyiv time on August 24, there were 128 combat engagements along the front over the past 24 hours. The Pokrovsk direction remained the hottest spot, as usual, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
According to the General Staff, Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 52 airstrikes. They also used one missile and dropped 76 guided aerial bombs.
In addition, the Russians deployed 1,789 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,978 strikes on Ukrainian positions and civilian areas.
Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian troops repelled five Russian attacks since the start of the day. The enemy also carried out 13 airstrikes, dropping 20 guided bombs, and conducted 136 artillery strikes.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the Russian army launched five assaults near the town of Vovchansk and toward Dvorichanske. All attacks were successfully repelled.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces carried out eight attacks on Ukrainian positions near Kupiansk, Zapadne, Holubivka, and Zelenyi Hai. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces launched 15 attacks near Hrekivka, Torske, Ivanivka, Ridkodub, Karpivka, and toward Serednie, Dronivka, Shandryholove, and Serebrianka. Six combat engagements remain active.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled ten enemy assaults near Serebrianka, Fedorivka, Vyimka, Pereizne, and toward Siversk. One combat engagement remains unresolved.
In the Kramatorsk direction, four Russian attacks were repelled in the areas of Maiske and Chasiv Yar.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions four times. Their main efforts were concentrated near Shcherbynivka and Rusyn Yar.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attempted 38 times to break through Ukrainian defenses near Zatyshok, Nikanorivka, Nove Shakhove, Novoekonomichne, Udachne, Shakhove, Myroliubivka, Mykolaivka, Sukhetske, Lysivka, Zvirove, and toward Rodynske, Novoukrainka, Chervonyi Lyman, and Pokrovsk. Two combat engagements are ongoing.
"Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding off enemy assaults. The enemy is suffering heavy losses. Today, 143 Russian forces were neutralized in this direction, 99 of them permanently. In addition, Ukrainian forces destroyed two fuel depots, one drone control center, and one enemy vehicle," the statement said.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian units repelled 21 enemy assaults near Zelene Pole, Vilne Pole, Maliivka, Voskresenka, Shevchenko, and Temyrivka, and toward Filiia, Novomykolaivka, Novoiehorivka, and Komyshuvakha. Six combat engagements remain ongoing.
In the Huliaipole, Orikhiv, and Prydniprovskyi directions, no active Russian offensives were recorded. Airstrikes hit the areas of Bilohiria, Naddniprianske, and Lvove.
In other directions, the situation has not changed significantly.
Russian army losses
Over the past 24 hours, from August 24 to 25, Russia lost 910 soldiers in battles with Ukraine. Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed 40 artillery systems, 121 drones, and 81 vehicles.
Since the start of the full-scale war, the Russian army's losses have reached nearly 1.1 million personnel.
