Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 24

Over the past day, 179 combat clashes were recorded. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled hundreds of Russian attacks on key front lines, while the Russians continued striking and using aviation, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on August 23, Russian troops carried out 61 air strikes, dropping 142 guided bombs, conducted 4,363 shellings, including 61 from multiple launch rocket systems, and launched 3,930 kamikaze drones.
In response, Ukrainian aviation and artillery struck two areas of concentration of manpower and equipment, an artillery unit, and a Russian command post.
Directions
North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions. Ukrainian defenders repelled 4 Russian attacks. Russia carried out eight air strikes (25 guided bombs) and 176 shellings.
South-Slobozhanskyi direction. Russians attempted to break through the defenses 10 times in the areas of Vovchansk, Ambarne, Kamianka, and in the direction of Zelene.
Kupiansk direction. There were 6 Russian attacks in the areas of Zahryzove and in the direction of Kupiansk.
Lyman direction. 20 attacks were recorded in the areas of Hrekivka, Ridkodub, Karpivka, Kolodiazi, Myrne, as well as in the direction of Shandryholove, Dronivka, and Serebrianka.
Siversk direction. Russia conducted 12 attempts to advance in the areas of Hryhorivka, Pereizne, Fedorivka, and in the direction of Siversk.
Kramatorsk direction. There were 16 clashes near Chasiv Yar and in the directions of Markove, Stupochky, Predtechyne, and Bila Hora.
Toretsk direction. Russian troops carried out 10 attacks near Shcherbynivka and in the direction of Pleshchiivka, Katerynivka, Poltavka, and Popiv Yar.
Pokrovsk direction. This was the most intense sector—52 assaults near Maiak, Nykonorivka, Nove Shakhove, Krasnyi Liman, Novoeekonomichnoe, Myroliubivka, Sukhyi Yar, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Horikhove, Novoukrainka, and in the directions of Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, BalaHan, Molodetsk, and FiliIa.
Novopavlivka direction. 33 Russian attacks were recorded in the areas of Vilne Pole, Maliivka, Voskresenka, Temyrivka, Olhivka, and in the direction of Filiia, Ivanivka, and Zaporizhzhia.
Huliaipole direction. There were no combat clashes.
Orikhiv direction. Ukrainian forces repelled a Russian attack in the Kamianske area.
Prydniprovskyi direction. Russia conducted 2 attempts to advance.
Volyn and Polissia directions. No signs of offensive groupings were detected.
Russian losses
Over the past day, Russian losses amounted to 910 troops.
Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed 3 Russian armored combat vehicles, 40 artillery systems, one air defense system, 121 unmanned aerial vehicles, and 81 vehicles.
