Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 23

As of 22:00 on August 23, 134 combat engagements occurred along the front, with the enemy conducting 45 airstrikes and dropping 81 guided bombs, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
Since the beginning of the day, 134 combat engagements have taken place. The enemy carried out 45 airstrikes, dropped 81 guided bombs, deployed 1,439 kamikaze drones, and shelled settlements and Ukrainian positions 3,169 times.
Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian forces repelled two enemy assault actions since the start of the day. The enemy also carried out five airstrikes using 17 guided bombs and conducted 165 shelling attacks.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian forces attempted to assault Ukrainian positions in the areas of Vovchansk, Ambarne, and toward Zelenyi. Ukrainian units repelled five attacks, with one engagement still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled two attacks in the areas of Zahryzove and in the direction of Kupiansk.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped eight enemy attacks in the areas of Hrekivka, Ridkodub, Kolodiazi, Myrne, and toward Shandryholove, Dronivka, and Serebrianka. Five combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy conducted eight offensive actions in the areas of Hryhorivka, Pereizne, Fedorivka, and toward Siversk.
On the Kramatorsk direction, our defenders stopped 11 attempts by Russian forces to advance in the area of Chasiv Yar and in the directions of Markove, Stupochky, Predtechyne, and Bila Hora. Two combat engagements are ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russian army launched nine assaults on Ukrainian positions in the area of Shcherbynivka and in the directions of Pleshchiivka, Katerynivka, Poltavka, and Popovyi Yar. Ukrainian defense forces repelled all enemy assault actions.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy carried out 40 attacks. Russian forces attempted to advance near the settlements of Mayak, Nikanorivka, Nove Shakhove, Krasnyi Lyman, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Sukhy Yar, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Horikhove, Novoukrainka, and toward Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Balahan, Molodetske, and Filiya. Five combat engagements are still ongoing.
According to preliminary estimates, in the past 24 hours, Ukrainian forces eliminated 67 occupiers and wounded another 40. Additionally, the enemy lost one mortar, 16 UAVs, three UAV command posts, two vehicles, one motorcycle, one electronic warfare system, and sustained damage to one artillery piece, one unit of special equipment, three UAV command posts, and six personnel shelters.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian units repelled 19 enemy attacks in the areas of Vilne Pole, Maliivka, Voskresenka, Temyrivka, Olhivka, and toward Ivanivka and Zaporizke. Eight combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, two enemy attempts to advance on Ukrainian positions failed.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine, citing the Operational Command Dnipro, reported that Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped the enemy and restored control over the village of Zelenyi Hai in the Donetsk region. The settlement is located near the administrative border with the Dnipropetrovsk region.
