Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 19

In the past 24 hours, 186 combat engagements were recorded. The enemy carried out the most attacks on the Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, and Lyman directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Shelling and airstrikes
During the day, Russian forces carried out 2 missile and 78 airstrikes, using 4 missiles and 162 guided aerial bombs.
They deployed 5,489 kamikaze drones and conducted 5,350 artillery strikes, including 86 from multiple launch rocket systems.
Airstrikes hit the following locations: Hirka in Sumy region; Poliushkyne and Karabany in Chernihiv region; Prymorske and Novoandriivka in Zaporizhzhia region; Antonivka in Kherson region.
In response, the Defense Forces struck 4 enemy troop and equipment concentrations, 4 artillery systems, and 2 command posts.
Directions of combat operations
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, seven clashes occurred over the past day. The enemy carried out 15 airstrikes, dropped 18 guided bombs, and conducted 198 artillery strikes.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy launched ten assaults on Ukrainian positions near Vovchansk, Hlyboke, Kamianka, and Ambarne.
In the Kupiansk direction, ten enemy attacks were recorded. Ukrainian forces repelled assaults near Holubivka, Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, Moskovka, and Zahryzove.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 26 times, attempting to advance near Ridkodub, Hrekivka, Dibrova, Karpivka, Myrne, and toward Stepove, Cherneshchyna, Drobysheve, and Yampil.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions four times near Hryhorivka, Serebrianka, and Vyimka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, four clashes were recorded near Bila Hora and Chasiv Yar.
In the Toretsk direction, six attacks were carried out near Poltavka, Rusyn Yar, Toretsk, and toward Berestok.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 67 enemy assault and offensive actions near Dorozhne, Fedorivka, Nykanorivka, Maiak, Rodynske, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Promin, Pokrovske, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Novoukrainka, Chunishyne, Volodymyrivka, Dachne, Lysivka, and toward Balahan.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions 29 times near Zirka, Vilne Pole, Voskresenka, Shevchenko, Novodarivka, Olhivske, Novopil, Zelene Pole, Maliivka, Shevchenko, and toward Oleksandrohrad and Komyshuvakha.
In the Huliaipole direction, no enemy assaults were recorded.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks near Kamianske and Novoandriivka.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, seven clashes occurred; the enemy attempted to advance toward the Antonivskyi Bridge, the Dniprovskyi settlement, and near Bilohrudyi Island.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of enemy offensive formations were observed.
Enemy losses
Over the past day, Russian forces lost:

- 1 multiple launch rocket system
- 209 operational-tactical UAVs
- 123 vehicles
- 1 special-purpose vehicle
Ukrainian forces continue to strike enemy rear positions, reducing their offensive potential.
On the night of August 19, Russian forces carried out a massive combined strike on Poltava region, deploying strike drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles simultaneously.
According to the regional military administration, impacts and falling debris were recorded in Kremenchuk and Lubny districts, damaging administrative buildings of local energy sector enterprises.
Specifically in Kremenchuk, Russian forces launched cruise missiles from strategic Tu-95MS bombers. Thick black smoke rose over the city following the strikes.
Energy and transport infrastructure facilities were hit. The full scale of damage and potential consequences is still being assessed.
