Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 17

Over the past day, there were 139 combat clashes on the front line. The Russian army carried out two missile strikes and 111 airstrikes, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, Russia launched three missiles and 213 guided aerial bombs, as well as 6,045 attacks, including 98 from multiple launch rocket systems. The occupiers also used 5,659 kamikaze drones for their assaults.
Airstrikes targeted, in particular, the areas of Zhykhove and Boyaro-Lezhachi in the Sumy region, Krasnyi Khutir in the Chernihiv region, Bilohirya in the Zaporizhzhia region, and Mykolaivka in the Kherson region.
In response, the Defense Forces struck 10 areas of enemy manpower and equipment concentration, three command posts, an ammunition depot, and three artillery systems.
Situation by directions
Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions. Seven combat clashes took place. The enemy carried out 32 airstrikes, dropped 74 guided bombs, and launched 245 attacks, including six with MLRS.
Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction. Ukrainian forces repelled five attacks near Vovchansk, Kamianka, Khatnie, and Fyholivka.
Kupiansk direction. Five attacks took place in the areas of Petropavlivka, Zahryzove, Nova Kruhliakivka, and toward Kupiansk.
Lyman direction. Twenty-one attempts to advance were recorded near Karpivka, Shandryholove, Kolodiazi, Yampil, and Ridkodub.
Siversk direction. Six attacks were repelled near Hryhorivka, Serebrianka, Vyiimka, Fedorivka, Pereizne, and toward Siversk.
Kramatorsk direction. Two clashes occurred near Orikhovo-Vasylivka and toward Bondarne.
Toretsk direction. The enemy attacked six times near Pleshchiivka, Stepanivka, Yablunivka, and Rusyn Yar.
Pokrovsk direction. Ukrainian forces repelled 45 assaults in the areas of Poltavka, Volodymyrivka, Fedorivka, Novoekonomichne, Rodynske, Sukhetske, Promin, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Udachne, Dachne, Novoukrainka, Lysivka, Nykonorivka, and toward Filiia.
Novopavlivka direction. Twenty-one attacks were recorded near Tolste, Komyshuvakha, Zelenyi Hai, Maliivka, Myrne, Zaporizke, and Olhivske.
Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions. No offensive actions were recorded.
Dnipro River direction. Five attacks were repelled toward Prymorske, the Antonivskyi bridge, and Bilohrudyi island.
Volyn and Polissia directions. No signs of enemy offensive group formations were detected.
Russian losses
As a reminder, over the past day, Russian occupiers lost 1,010 personnel.
In addition, Ukrainian forces destroyed six tanks, two armored combat vehicles, 42 artillery systems, 152 operational-tactical UAVs, 137 vehicles, and two units of special equipment.
