Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of July 17

Since the beginning of July 17, there have been 72 combat engagements on the front line. Russian forces are attacking in nearly all directions, with the heaviest fighting taking place near Pokrovsk, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the day on July 17, there have been seven enemy attacks in the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions. In addition, the enemy carried out 10 airstrikes, dropping 15 guided aerial bombs, and conducted 181 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, including four using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
In the Southern Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian defense forces repelled three enemy attacks near the settlement of Vovchansk, and one combat engagement is still ongoing. The enemy launched airstrikes on the areas of Okip, Borshchova, Vovchansk, and Chuhunivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces attempted three assaults on Ukrainian defensive positions near Kupiansk, Zelenyi Hai, and in the direction of Pishchane.
In the Lyman direction, the invading forces carried out 12 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Novoiehorivka, Hrekivka, Karpivka, Zelena Dolyna, Kolodiazi, Serebrianka, and toward Shandryholove. Five combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy tried to advance twice and showed activity in the area of Hryhorivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled four enemy attacks toward Stupochky, Bila Hora, and Predtechyne.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy conducted six assault actions in the areas of Shcherbynivka, Petrivka, Rusyn Yar, and toward Pleshchiivka. One battle is still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces made 28 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Poltavka, Novoekonomichne, Lysivka, Novoukrainka, Zvirove, Udachne, Muravka, Oleksiivka, and toward Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka. Ukrainian forces repelled 25 enemy attacks, and three engagements are still ongoing.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy tried six times to break through Ukrainian defenses near Piddubne, Voskresenka, Vilne Pole, and Shevchenko. Three assaults were repelled, and three more are still in progress.
In the Huliaipole, Orikhiv, and Prydniprovskyi directions, no enemy assaults were recorded, but the enemy conducted airstrikes on Stepnohirsk and Olhivka.
Russian losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost approximately 1,038,650 troops.
In particular, over the past day alone, the Russian army lost 1,190 soldiers. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 4 tanks, 1 armored combat vehicle, 43 artillery systems, 250 drones, and other enemy equipment yesterday.
