Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of July 16

Over the past day, there were 171 combat clashes on the front line. Russian troops launched two missiles and 54 air strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russia carried out 5,574 strikes, 68 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems, and also used 3,869 kamikaze drones to attack.
Air strikes were carried out, in particular, on Zybyne and Odradne in the Kharkiv region; Rodynske, Sukhyi Yar, Myrnohrad, and Novopoltavka in the Donetsk region; Novoandriivka in the Zaporizhzhia region; and Lvove in the Kherson region.
Over the past day, the Ukrainian Air Force, missile forces, and artillery struck six areas where Russian invaders had concentrated personnel, weapons, and military equipment, three command posts, two air defense systems, and one artillery system.
Directions
Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions: 21 combat clashes were recorded in these areas of the front. Russians carried out ten air strikes, dropping 23 guided bombs, as well as 363 shelling of Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas, including ten from multiple launch rocket systems.
South-Slobozhanskyi direction: Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled seven Russian attacks near Vovchansk, Krasne Pershe, and Stroivka, demonstrating that they maintain control over key areas.
Kupiansk direction: Russians attacked 5 times. Ukrainian defenders repelled Russian assaults in the areas of Stepova Novoselivka, Zahryzove, Pishchane, and in the direction of Kupiansk.
Lyman direction: Russia attacked 25 times, trying to advance near Novyi Mir, Novoyehorivka, Hrekivka, Karpivka, Kolodyazi, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, towards Shandryholove and Serebrianka.
Siversk direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled three Russian assaults near Hryhorivka and Vyimka, preventing Russians from improving their tactical position.
Kramatorsk direction: Seven combat clashes were recorded in the areas of Predtechyne, Bila Hora, and Stupochky, where Ukrainian troops are holding back Russia's advance.
Toretsk direction: Russians carried out 11 attacks near Dyliivka, Torets, Novospaske, and Rusyn Yar, trying to break through the Ukrainian defenses.
Pokrovsk direction remains one of the most intense. Ukrainian defenders stopped 60 Russian assaults in the areas of Mykolaivka, Shevchenko, Molodetsk, Horikhove, Popiv Yar, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Zvirove, Udachne, Oleksiivka, as well as in the direction of Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Muravka Filiia, Dachne.
Novopavlivka direction: Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped 27 Russian attempts to break through the defensive lines in the areas of Zaporizhzhia, Piddubne, Lisne, Myrne, Maliivka, Shevchenko, Novosilka, Zelene Pole, and in the direction of Komyshuvakha, Temyrivka, and Novokhatske. This direction is also characterized by a high intensity of combat operations.
Huliaipole direction: Over the past day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully stopped a Russian assault near Malynivka, which testifies to the effectiveness of the Ukrainian defense in this relatively calm direction.
Orikhiv direction: In the Novodanilivka area, Ukrainian defenders also repelled a Russian assault.
Prydniprovskyi direction: Ukrainian soldiers repelled 8 Russian attacks in the area of the Antonivskyi Bridge and near the islands of Kozulsky and Zabych, continuing to hold their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro.
Volyn and Polissia directions: No signs of Russian offensive formations have been detected in these directions, and the situation remains stable.
Russia's losses in war
Over the past day, Russian losses amounted to 1,170 troops.
Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed three Russian tanks, two armored combat vehicles, 49 artillery systems, two air defense systems, 284 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles, 82 vehicles, and one heavy flamethrower system.
