Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of July 9

Since the beginning of the day, 112 combat engagements have already been recorded along the entire front line. The Russian army continues to assault Ukrainian defense positions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As the General Staff reported, border settlements have been hit from the territory of Russia, in particular, Liskivshchyna and Hirsk in the Chernihiv region, Khutir-Mykhailivskyi, Pokrovka, Prohres, Bobylivka, Luhivka, Vysoke, Myropilske in the Sumy region, and Tymofiivka in the Kharkiv region.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, there have been seven combat engagements since the beginning of the day. The enemy carried out five airstrikes, dropped nine guided bombs in total, and launched 170 artillery attacks, including two using multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy attacks near Vovchansk, Kamianka, Krasne Pershe, and toward Lyptsi and Petro-Ivanivka. Airstrikes hit the settlements of Okhrimivka, Kruhle, Odradne, and Artilne.
In the Kupiansk direction, there have been three enemy attacks since the beginning of the day. Defense forces repelled assaults near Stepova Novoselivka, Radkivka, and toward Novosynove. One engagement is still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army launched 11 attacks near Novyi Myr, Ridkodub, Seredne, Karpivka, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, and toward Serebrianka. Four combat engagements are currently ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy has carried out six offensive actions since the beginning of the day near the settlements of Serebrianka, Verkhniokamianske, and Vyimka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attempts by the enemy to advance near Bila Hora, Chasiv Yar, and Predtechyne. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy launched seven attacks near Dyliivka, Shcherbynivka, Toretsk, Rusyn Yar, and toward Pleshchiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the Russian forces have made 36 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Popiv Yar, Poltavka, Novotoretske, Myrnohrad, Novoekonomichne, Myrne, Myroliubivka, Mykolaivka, Promin, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Dachne, Novoserhiivka, Yalta, Oleksiivka, and toward Novopidhorodne, Pokrovsk, Razine, and Rodynske.
The defense forces are holding back the enemy's advance and have repelled 32 attacks; four combat engagements are still ongoing. The settlements of Shakhove, Poltavka, Pankivka, Volodymyrivka, Sukhyi Yar, and Pokrovsk came under airstrikes.
In the Novopavlivka direction today, the enemy attacked 17 times near Yalta, Myrne, Zelene Pole, Shevchenko, and Vilne Pole. Eleven engagements are still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, the settlement of Verbove was hit by unguided rocket airstrikes.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy assault near Novodanylivka. Airstrikes targeted the settlements of Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, and Plavni.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy attempted to advance four times but was unsuccessful. The settlement of Odradokamianka was hit by guided bomb airstrikes.
In the other directions of the front, the situation has not changed significantly.
Russian losses in the war
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost 1,029,000 troops. In the past 24 hours alone, enemy losses increased by another 1,050 personnel. In particular, the Defense Forces destroyed:
