Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of June 2

As of 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time on June 2, there were 117 combat engagements reported across the front lines over the past day. The heaviest fighting took place in the Pokrovsk direction, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
Today, the enemy launched 2 missile strikes and 49 airstrikes, using 3 missiles and 78 guided aerial bombs. They also carried out 1,353 attacks with kamikaze drones and nearly 4,000 shellings targeting our military positions and civilian settlements.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled two enemy assaults near Vovchansk and toward Dovhenke. Another battle is currently underway.
The enemy launched seven attacks on our defenses in the Kupiansk direction, targeting areas near the settlements of Zapadne, Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, Zahryzove, and Zelenyi Hai.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attempted 15 assaults on Ukrainian positions today near Hrekivka, Olhivka, Novyi Myr, Hlushchenkove, Ridkodub, Karpivka, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, and toward Hryhorivka. Three clashes are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the Defense Forces repelled five Russian attacks near Hryhorivka, Verkhniokamianske, and toward Serebrianka.
Today, our forces repelled four enemy attacks toward Bila Hora and Kurdiumivka in the Kramatorsk direction, with one battle still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russian army launched nine assaults on our defensive positions near the settlements of Diliivka, Pleshchiivka, Toretsk, and toward Yablunivka. One assault is still underway.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy carried out 36 assault and offensive actions throughout the day. Russian forces were especially active near the settlements of Poltavka, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Malynivka, Lysivka, Dachenske, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Muravka, Kotliarivka, Andriivka, and toward Pokrovsk. Fighting continues at two locations.
"According to preliminary estimates, today our soldiers eliminated 77 and wounded 65 enemy troops in this direction; they also destroyed three armored fighting vehicles, 17 vehicles, 10 motorcycles, four UAVs, and one electronic warfare system. Additionally, one armored vehicle, three vehicles, four motorcycles, two artillery pieces, and a BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system were damaged," the report states.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Russian army launched 19 attacks on Ukrainian positions, attempting to advance near the settlements of Kostiantynopil, Odradne, Novosilka, Vilne Pole, Zelene Pole, Novopil, and toward Novoukrainka and Komar. One engagement is still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled an enemy advance near the village of Stepove.
In the Kurakhove direction, the Defense Forces of Ukraine successfully pushed back 15 attacks by the invading army today. Two more engagements are still ongoing. The enemy also launched 11 airstrikes, dropping 18 guided aerial bombs (FABs), and carried out 150 shellings, including two using multiple launch rocket systems.
No significant changes were observed in other directions.
Russian army losses
As of June 2, 2025, Russia has lost nearly 990,000 troops in its war against Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion. In just the past 24 hours alone, 1,140 personnel were eliminated.
Additionally, between June 1 and 2, Ukrainian forces destroyed 48 artillery systems, 256 drones, and 137 vehicles.
