Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 28

The enemy continues attacks in key directions along the front in Ukraine, but the Defense Forces are successfully repelling advances and holding their positions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As of 4:00 p.m., there have been 114 combat clashes since the beginning of the day.
The Russian forces continue to strike border settlements. Ukrainian towns affected by enemy artillery include Myropilske, Pokrovka, Oleksandrivka, Zarichne, Petrushivka, Maryine, Uhroidy, Dmytrivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Baranivka, Prohres, and Popivka in the Sumy region; and Kliusy in the Chernihiv region.
The areas of Velykyi Prykil and Uhroidi in the Sumy region came under enemy air strikes.
Situation by directions
In the Kharkiv direction, there were two clashes near Starytsia and Krasne Pershe.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched seven assaults on Ukrainian positions near Zahryzove and Zelenyi Hai. Three clashes are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russia attacked 14 times today near Ridkodub, Kolodiazi, Nadiia, Hrekivka, in the Serebryankyi forest, and toward Karpivka, Seredne, Novyi Myr, and Zelena Dolyna. Six battles are currently ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy conducted two offensive actions near Bilohorivka and toward Verkhniokamianske.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the Defense Forces repelled seven Russian attempts to advance near Markove, Chasiv Yar, and Bila Hora. Two more clashes are ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions 13 times near Toretsk, Dyliivka, and Druzhba. Three battles are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian defenders 32 times today near Myroliubivka, Malynivka, Myrne, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Kotliarivka, Orikhove, Oleksiivka, and toward Zoria, Rusyn Yar, Novomykolaivka, and Yablunivka.
Six battles are still ongoing. Airstrikes were recorded in Dovha Balka, Zoria, Oleksandro-Kalynove, Novotoretske, Pokrovsk, and Novoukrainka.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight enemy attacks near Novopil, Zelene Pole, Vilne Pole, and toward Voskresenka. Airstrikes hit the areas of Zaporizhzhia, Komar, and Myrne.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Defense Forces halted four enemy assaults near Shcherbaky, Stepove, Novodanylivka, and Robotyne.
In the Huliaipole and Prydniprovskyi directions, no combat engagements were recorded today.
In the Kursk direction, there were 16 combat clashes today, three of which are still ongoing.
In addition, the enemy launched 11 airstrikes, dropped 23 glide bombs, and carried out 101 artillery attacks, including two with multiple launch rocket systems.
Russia's losses in the war
Just in the past day, the Russian army lost more than 1,000 personnel.
Ukrainian forces also destroyed four tanks, two armored combat vehicles, 18 artillery systems, 65 tactical-level drones, and 52 units of enemy vehicles.
