Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 25

As of 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time on May 25, a total of 135 combat engagements took place on the front line over the day. Of these, 40 assault attempts occurred in the Pokrovsk direction alone, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
Since the beginning of the day, the Russian forces have carried out one missile strike and 74 airstrikes, using 81 missiles and dropping 112 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the Russians deployed 1,138 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,648 attacks on Ukrainian military positions and populated areas.
Frontline situation
Today, in the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders four times near Vovchansk, Stroivka, and Krasne Pershe.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched two assaults on our defenders' positions near Kruhliakivka and Nova Kruhliakivka.
In the Lyman direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian forces have attacked Ukrainian positions 19 times toward Ridkodub, Zelena Dolyna, Novyi Myr, and near Hrekivka, Lypove, and Torske. At present, Ukrainian defenders are repelling four enemy attacks.
The Defense Forces have repelled four enemy offensives toward Hryhorivka and near Bilohorivka and Verkhniokamianske, with two clashes still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, seven combat engagements have been recorded so far in the direction of Predtechyne, Bila Hora, and near Chasiv Yar, with one battle still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russians attacked the positions of the Defense Forces ten times. Their offensive efforts were concentrated in the areas of Toretsk, Romanivka, Diliivka, and toward Novospaske. Currently, three combat engagements are ongoing.
Since the beginning of the day in the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian forces have attempted to break through our defenses 40 times in the areas of Kotliarivka, Malynivka, Lysivka, Udachne, Zvirove, Troitske, Yelyzavetivka, Andriivka, and toward Shevchenka Pershe, Zoria, Muravka, Oleksiivka, and Myroliubivka. Three clashes are still ongoing. The enemy also carried out airstrikes with guided bombs on the settlements of Dovha Balka, Oleksandro-Kalynove, and Stepanivka.
"The Defense Forces are holding back enemy assaults, and the enemy is suffering significant losses. Today, 159 Russian soldiers were neutralized in this direction, 95 of them irreversibly. Three vehicles, nine motorcycles, one mortar, seven unmanned aerial vehicles, two communication antennas, and one UAV control point were also destroyed. In addition, a mortar belonging to the Russian forces was damaged," the report states.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian units repelled 19 enemy assaults on our positions near the settlements of Novopil, Kostiantynopil, Novosilka, Vilne Pole, and in the direction of Myrne, Shevchenko, Komar, Zelene Pole, and Bahatyr. Three more combat engagements are ongoing. The settlement of Novopil was hit by an airstrike using unguided rockets.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy carried out airstrikes on the areas of Novodarivka, Huliaipole, and Malynivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy attempted to advance five times near the settlements of Novoandriivka and Stepove. Mala Tokmachka and Kamianske were hit by airstrikes.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, there were three enemy attempts to advance near the settlement of Kozachi Laheri.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue their operations in the Kursk direction, where the enemy carried out 24 assaults on Ukrainian positions over the day. Three combat engagements are currently ongoing. The enemy launched 14 airstrikes, dropping 25 guided bombs, and conducted 202 artillery attacks, including 13 with multiple launch rocket systems.
In other directions, the situation has not changed significantly.
On the previous day, May 24, a total of 204 combat engagements were recorded on the front line. Notably, in the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy conducted 65 assault actions.
